Clean, Uncomplicated Skincare

I don't know about you, but I am a big fan of people and things that don't take themselves too seriously, which is why when Frank Body came into my life a number of years ago, I fell in love. Five years on, Frank have just released a new range of skincare so I thought it was time to update my Frank Body review.

For those of you that haven't heard of Frank before, they are an Australian based skincare brand that use started five years ago with a humble coffee scrub. What grew from that was a skincare company that made natural skincare fun. They are a non-toxic brand that uses natural and naturally derived ingredients that are not tested on bunnies, or any other animal for that matter. The humble brand, based in Melbourne, is now available in Mecca Maxima, Sephora (US) and Ulta Beauty.

"What's your life motto?"
"No pants are the best pants!"
I have been using Frank Body products on and off for a number of years, but over the last three months I have been using their skincare products on a regular basis. So let's chat about those!

Creamy Face Cleanser*

The dirtiest looking, but cleanest-cleanser. Makes sense right? Makeup, shmakeup. I look dark because of charcoal that deactivates breakouts. I remove makeup & impurities naturally without stripping the skin thanks to my combination of echinacea & natural oils. Use morning & night for a clear, blemish free complexion. Vegan & cruelty-free.

This is a really interesting cleanser, very different to any of my other cleanser. It is a creamy consistency, but with a charcoal colour to it. It doesn't foam or lather up on the skin, simply melts away any make up or grime on your skin. I apply a small amount on damp skin and then rinse. I love how clean it leaves my skin feeling. I do occasionally use it twice, if I am wearing a lot of make up. Other times I just use it once. It has Marshmallow Root which helps to calm the skin, with Activated Charcoal to help remove impurities from the skin. It is a simple and works well. When I am using this on a regular basis I find that it works well to reduce my blemishes, as it both calms the skin and the activated charcoal removes any extra build up in my skin.

Anti-Makeup Cleansing Oil*

I'm a natural oil cleanser that takes your second face off. My combination of coffee, grapeseed oil and BHA acid dissolve dirt, makeup and all your attempts at winged-eyeliner. I start off oily then evolve into a creamy, milky liquid when mixed with water to leave your skin clear, bright and panda-eye free.

I was very excited when Frank released a cleansing oil. Cleansing oils are my favourite form of first cleanse (i.e. the cleanse I do to remove my make up). I find oils make it easy to break down make up and remove without having to scrub. This cleansing oil contains grapeseed oil and BHA acid, which were very exciting for me. However, I find this cleansing oil a little too thick for my liking. I like my cleansing oils very runny, almost like water, where as this one was quite thick and required a fair bit of effort to move across the face. In saying that, it still removes make up easily and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated. However, the consistency is just not a winner for me.

Creamy Face Scrub*

For babes that have one minute to get their glow on, I'm the guy for the job. I'm a targeted exfoliator that detoxifies pores, fight breakouts & fades scars thanks to my blend of coffee, bamboo and walnut. Your skin will look even and perky from the moment you rinse me off. For best results use me 2-3 times a week after cleansing.
This is probably one of my favourite products from Frank Body. I would even go as far to say it is my favourite face scrub. I have been through a couple of these tubes and it never ceases to impress me. If you want a face scrub that will leave your skin feeling soft and squeaky clean, but doesn't irritate or leave your face feeling sore and red, then this is the scrub for you. It uses Roasted Coffee Grinds embedded in a creamy mix of White Clay, Rosehip Oil, Grapeseed, Coconut and Sweet Almond Oil. It gives your skin a good, coarse scrub, while also leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated.  Long term, I find this scrub really helps with my acne and the scars that are left behind from my spots. I use it 2-3 times a week in the shower after removing my make up. It basically lives in the shower and I use it whenever I need it.

Anti-Angry Face Mist*

Made with rose water and aloe, I cool down angry skin, freshen up foundation and give you a reason to spritz anyone who needs to calm TF down. Mist standing, mist sitting, mist dancing... naked.

I have been trying to start use mists more frequently in recent months. Mostly because I have a lot of them lying around and I am starting to enjoy them more. This mist is great because it's actually different to a lot of the others I have. This mist is designed to calm down the skin with Rosewater and Aloe Vera. If you have over exfoliated, or used a product that has left your skin a little red and irritated, this is great to calm it down and help reduce the redness. I spray this on after cleansing my skin, or throughout the day if my skin is feeling particularly uncomfortable. It is the perfect thing for sensitive skin!

Everyday Face Moisturiser

For babes that want a smooth ending, for once. Natural, lightweight and caffeinated. I'm the perfect moisturiser, if I do say so myself. My mix of coffee, shea butter and vitamin E plumps skin without the laser beams so you feel nourished, not pinched. I don't contain any nasties that secretly clog pores over time so you'll stay feeling great.

If you're looking for a good, hydrating moisturiser that is gentle and doesn't have any fuss, then this is totally the one for you! I have been using this for the last few months in an attempt to have a minimal routine. It is a fuss free moisturiser that works really well. It contains cocoa and shea butter, which leaves your skin feeling hydrated, without feeling too heavy; Vitamin E which helps to promote the long term health of your skin by blocking the effects of free-radicals, those nasty things that cause ageing. Remember: prevention is key. Finally it contains Vitamins A, E and D hydrate skin without blocking pores and help to fade scars and heal blemishes. It's a really lightweight moisturiser (very runny) and it sinks into the skin quickly. It helps with my blemishes as well, and is simple enough that you can use it in conjunction with other serums that you want to focus on in your routine. The only thing I don't love about it is the packaging. I find, due to the runny consistency, it comes out too quickly and you end up with too much. It also ends up leaking into the lid. I think it would work better with a pump style bottle.

Anti-Drama Face Mask*

Meet Anti-Drama Face Mask, here for pores, not applause. My blend of charcoal, chamomile, honey and lavender removes dirt, impurities and the day's drama by soothing skin and you. Leave for 15 minutes, rinse and chill. That’s it - it’s a face mask, not your love life.

The new face mask addition to the Frank Body skincare family. It contains Charcoal to help remove impurities from the skin and help reduce blemishes (I love charcoal to help with my spots), while also having Chamomile and Honey to help calm down the skin and reduce redness in the skin. It's calming but also works well to reduce blemishes. It's a win win in a mask! I really enjoy using this one in the evening and following it up (when I have time) in the morning with the Glow Mask.

Glow Mask*

A hydrating mask that doesn't fake a thing. 100% natural, ultra-hydrating, I work to reduce puffiness and give skin extra life, glow and brightness. Perfect pre-makeup, for late nights and morning-afters. The best part? It's natural, cruelty free and only takes 5 minutes to work. You're welcome.

This has been a long time favourite Frank product of mine. It is a really lovely hydrating face mask that helps to brighten the skin with Goji Berry Extract, and leave it feeling glowy throughout the day. Because it only takes 5 minutes you can pop it on in the morning when you need a little extra glow. This is perfect, especially in winter!

I could go on about the other Frank Body products but I don't want this post to go forever. Safe to say I also love the Lip Scrub* and Lip Balm*, they are my go to lip products. And the Original Coffee Scrub is my go to when I am tanning and need to scrub my entire body. It's safe to say that I am a long time lover of Frank and their products will always have a bit of a soft spot in my heart.

Don't forget you can also save some $$ and grab a kit with all of the skincare products inside. They have a whole variety of kits, but the Mega Complexion Kit contains all 6 skincare goodies and one very cool bag!
