Best in Beauty 2018 : Make Up

This was probably a post I should've done in December 2018, but it's something I didn't think about until January 1, so here we are! While we are thinking about 2019, I wanted to share some of my favourite beauty products of 2018, because 2018 really had some amazing products. First up let's talk make up.

Base Products

In 2018, I tried a lot of foundations but I fell in love with two foundations that keep me covered for absolutely everything. The first is the Clinique Even Better Glow is my go-to foundation for a glowy base. It is a medium coverage that just makes the skin look amazing, no matter what. You can read my full review about it here. The other foundation that made my Best of Beauty list, was the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. I have lived in this foundation in 2018. It is a fuller coverage foundation than the Clinique and perfect for bad skin days, long days where you need a trusty foundation to last all day, or for a night out. I don't know why it took me so long to get into this foundation, but I love it. Read my full review here.

As for concealer, I discovered a concealer I didn't expect to love. A friend bought me the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer and I didn't expect to like it. I tend to steer clear of matte base products as they often make my skin look dry and flat. This does not do that though. It covers anything and everything, sits comfortably on the skin and doesn't crease or go cakey. Plus, the little pot will last forever I swear!

Eye Products

I have to say, I played it pretty safe with eye products in 2018. I avoided eyeliner like the plaque, wore minimal or no eyeshadow and stuck to mascaras that I knew and loved. Everything that I am awarding the Best of Beauty award to are fairly new to me, but they have quickly become favourites.

For mascara, my absolute favourite is the Model Co LashXtend Lengthening Mascara. If you are after a volumising mascara, this is not for you, but for lengthening it is AMAZING! It is a tubing mascara and doesn't smudge at all through the day, which is my only real desire for a mascara. It also makes your lashes look so long and fluttery.

As for eye shadow, my favourite eyeshadow palette of the year has to be the Charlotte Tilbury Stars in Your Eyes Palette. I won this in a giveaway this year and I am a little obsessed. It is not an eyeshadow palette that I would typically reach for. The tones are quite pink and warm, where as I go for anything as neutral as possible. However, they just look AMAZING on the skin. The formula is beautiful and the shadows are extremely pigmented. I love it!

2018 was another year of using of using the Poni Cosmetics Brow Magic and loving it. It is a super thin pencil in a universal shade that works amazingly to create precision defined brows, or fluffy natural brows. I am currently out of this, but I need to restock ASAP.

Face Products

This was probably the hardest category to choose from. But we'll start with bronzer, because I know that one! The Marc Jacobs O!mega Bronze Coconut Perfect Tan is by far, my favourite bronzer ever. It is the perfect bronze shade - not too orange and warm, just the perfect shade to give your skin a beautiful warm glow. Also it smells really lovely!

My other Best in Beauty face product award goes to the Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cake Palette* in GildedBare Glow. I have seen some mixed reviews on these palettes, but I absolutely love them. You get everything in one palette - bronzer, blush and highlighter. They are a little shimmery, but on the skin they look gorgeous, giving a beautiful subtle glow.

Lip Products

There are two lip products that I have absolutely loved this year. Both nudes (of course) that are just the perfect shade. The first is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. It is the perfect rosey nude, that looks gorgeous on the lips. While it's a matte formula, it doesn't make your lips feel dry or cracked. It's basically just the perfect lipstick. I am onto my second tube now, which is really saying something!

Then there is MAC Velvet Teddy which will probably always hold a special place in my heart now as it is the lipstick I wore on my wedding day. I always wanted to try this lipstick, but also kind of avoided it because of the hype. Safe to say it is worth the hype, because it is another perfect nude shade. Much like Pillow Talk, it is a matte formula that doesn't feel matte or dry on the skin.

Those are my favourite make up products from 2018. My go-to staple products that I can trust any time. What were some of your Best in Beauty make up products in 2018? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay tuned for my next post where I will be sharing my Best in Beauty Skincare products for 2018!
