The Mineral Lover: Origani Make Up

Anyone that shops in popular Australian malls might have heard of Origani, a luxurious skincare brand. They have released some new make up products that I have been very excited to try.

Origani is a luxurious skincare that believes in beautiful, natural skin. They believe in nurturing the harmonious relationship between nature and science to bring you the finest in organic skin care. They believe that compromising on your skincare should not be an option.

I haven't tried Origani skincare before, not just because of the expensive price tag, but because the counters that have been in Canberra tend to have pushy sales people who get right in your face to try and sell their products. It's a sales tactic that does not win me over and a number of people have mentioned similar apprehensions when they found out I was trying out some Origani products. Despite that, I was curious to try the products to see whether they are worth the price tag and the sales tactics.

Perfect Base Primer* // $180

Prepare for perfection with the Perfect Base Primer – the first steps towards achieving radiant skin and long-lasting make-up performance. Perfect Base Primer creates a protective barrier over the skin, giving a smooth and silky texture for flawless and long-lasting make-up wear. Your skin will remain soft and supple throughout the day thanks to the hydration benefits of Jojoba and Avocado Oil.

To start off your make up look, Origani have a primer. This primer reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Photofinish Primer or the Arbonne Makeup Primer. It s a silicone type primer that glides over the skin and leaves your skin with a soft, silky finish. I have been really enjoying these types of primers lately. I find that make up sits really well and lasts much longer over the top of these primers.

I apply the primer with my fingers and I find that I only need about a pea size amount to cover my whole face as it spreads really easily. It is 30g and quite a large tube, so using a small amount will make it last for a long time. It feels nice on the skin and works well to make my make up last.

Is it worth the price tag? If it wasn't so expensive, it would probably become my new favourite primer. I don't think it is worth $180 and I think there are primers that are similar and just as good for a cheaper price tag. It is good and I have been really enjoying it and if you wanted to splurge on yourself, or have the bank account to afford it, I would definitely recommend it.

Mineral Foundation* // $150

Mineral Lover Foundation will give your skin stunning luminosity and a natural glow that lasts. Luxurious to apply, your skin will look and feel flawless. Our combination of minerals ensures pores are minimised and imperfections disappear. Your skin will look refined and pure, with a weightless feel.

I am not usually a mineral foundation fan. With my skin being on the dry side, I find that mineral foundation can make my skin look flat and dry and I haven't found one that leaves my skin looking amazing and lasts all day. Which left me a bit apprehensive to try this foundation.

The Mineral Lover kit comes with a foundation brush, which is a bit like a kabuki brush, that I have been using to apply the foundation. I should start by saying - I LOVE the packaging of this foundation, and of all of their make up products. They each have a little cap that stops powder coming out of the tub and going everywhere (a constant worry I have with loose powder make up). I do like the extra touch with these containers, I think it is a great extra measure to make sure you don't lose any product.

I take a small amount of product on the brush and then buff it into my skin. It is a light coverage and I have found that it is quite hard to build the foundation up, until some other mineral foundations that I have used, but I have come to really like the finish. It is a light to (almost) medium coverage that evens out skin tone and does cover some smaller blemishes, with a natural finish. It does look matte when applied but as the natural oils in your skin come out through the day the foundation looks more like a natural finish.

As for lasting power, it lasts surprisingly well. Mineral foundation usually cracks and sits in my pores through the day, but this foundation lasts really well and still looks amazing at the end of the day. It almost looks better at the end of the day, but a little bit less matte.

The colour range isn't extensive, there are only five different shades. I have shade 2, which suits my skin perfectly, but I can't say that they would cater to darker skin tones.

Is it worth the price tag? Honestly, it's pricey BUT it is possibly the best mineral foundation I have ever used and I am starting to fall in love with it. It is a shame it is so expensive because I am almost ready to say that it is currently one of my favourite foundations...

Mineral Cream Concealer

The mineral concealers are not yet on the website, but should be coming soon. It is a cream concealer that comes in a jar. I don't usually like these types of concealers, but I have been quite enjoying this concealer. The Mineral Lover kit also came with a concealer brush, but I find it easy to use my fingers to apply the concealer and blend it in. Using this in conjunction with the foundation gives a lovely, natural but flawless finish to your skin. It works well under eyes and on spots to conceal and brighten. I have been loving this way more then I expected to.

Mineral Eyeshadow* // $60

Origani’s Mineral Lover Eyeshadow is a 100%mineral loose powder with a brilliant metallic finish. Formulated with natural ingredients, the powder creates luminosity and shine in multiple uses. Its extrafine, soft, and silky texture glides on effortlessly and gives an intense result. You can customise your application by applying it dry for a metallic finish or wet for a liquidmetal result.

Out of all the products that I have tried, these are probably my least favourite. While they have some lovely colours (there is quite a range, I have Peach Champagne and Cocoa Suede), I can't say that they are the most pigmented shadows I have ever used and I find that they don't last very well. They have quite a shimmery and sheer finish and they are noticeable on they eyes, you do have to use quite a bit of product to create a dramatic look. If you don't use a primer these shadows (on myself anyway) don't last well at all.

This may mostly be a person preference, as I tend to not like single shadows particularly loose powder ones, as they are not very practical to use or travel with.

Mineral Blush Serendipity* // $140

Define, highlight, and contour with Mineral Lover Blush to create a healthy natural glow to your complexion. Preservative and chemical free, Mineral Lover Blush blends effortlessly onto your skin, and its feather lightweight texture gives a flawless finish.

While, again, I don't tend to love loose powder products as they can be quite messy and a bit of extra admin to apply. Again, this product has the same packaging as the foundation, which I really enjoy as it stops the powder going EVERYWHERE.

This blush is VERY pigmented and you only need a small amount of product. I just take my blush brush (which also came in the Mineral Lover kit) and swirl it through the blush a little bit, then 'tap tap tap' (always tap) to get rid of excess product and then sweep up my cheeks. It is a beautiful pink colour that gives your cheeks a lovely natural pink hue.

Is it worth the price tag? This is another one I'm on the fence about. It is a lovely blush and I have been really enjoying using it, but at $140 I think there are good alternatives that are much cheaper. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful blush and I really like it, but as someone who doesn't have a never ending bank account, I probably wouldn't rush to buy another.

I have been really enjoying these products and have been quite surprised by them. The foundation in particular and the concealer have definitely won me over. I can't believe that there are mineral foundations out there that looking that good on the skin. They are pricey and luxurious products which are not going to be for everyone. I have enjoyed them and am curious about other products they have to offer.
