My Proactiv Journey

Proactiv 3 Step Kit

It's been six week since I started my Proactiv journey and  the challenge has come to an end. I wanted to touch base and share how it's gone and the results I have had.

If you recall from my earlier Proactiv post, I originally started this journey because I have struggled with acne for years, but have never found anything that helps at all. My skin has left my confidence battered and bruised, and I have been too self conscious to not wear make up for a long time. I decided to take part in the Proactiv Journey to see if maybe they would help.

Today I want to give you a run down of how the journey has gone and how my skin has improved. If you want some more information on the products, head back to my original post where I talk through each step and what the whole program involves.

For those that missed my weekly updates on Instagram, I am going to go through my improvement each week, with an update on the final results.

This is my skin before I started. Looking back, my skin wasn't as bad as I remember it being, however I was having a lot of issues with blemishes on my forehead and my chin, with a couple of spots up my cheek.

Week 1:

Week 1 went well, I didn't have any issues with irritation, but I did introduce the three steps slowly to let my skin acclimatise. I had a couple of new spots appear on my cheek, but other than that I haven’t had any big, red angry spots appear at all, which was a first for a while at the time. My skin was looking a little bit redder, but nothing to be concerned about.

Week 2:

My skin started to get a little bit worse in this week, I had a number of whiteheads that were popping up more regularly, but also clearing up a lot quicker than I was used to as well. I also had a little bit of minor irritation this week (nothing huge, just a bit of dryness) so I used Step 3 - Repair more as a spot treatment rather than all over my face and have to say that it works really well.

Week 3:

As I mentioned in week 2, I had some mild irritation that occurred on my forehead, which then made me breakout and then turned into lots of little bumps. It doesn’t look as noticeable, but the texture of my forehead is a bit like sandpaper, so I’ve toned down the use of Step 3, focusing on cleansing, toning and then using a moisturiser. The redness in my skin has really started to clear up, and despite a few “scars” that are still clearing up from some bigger spots, my skin was noticeably clearer.

Week 4:

I was quite unwell and also had a bit of a junk food and boozy weekend. Neither of these helped with my skin. I had probably the worst breakout that I have had in years. My skin was awful for about 5 days. What I was surprised about...that within 5 days my skin was already starting to clear up.

Week 5:

My skin was continuing to clear up after the last few weeks. All the tiny little white heads from my crazy breakout on my forehead have cleared up, my skin is feeling softer and smoother, and all in all this is probably the best my skin has looked in a while.

Final Results:

What you have all been waiting for, the final results and my final thoughts on the Proactiv range. After 6 weeks of using Proactiv's 3-Step Kit, my skin is looking better then it has in months. Besides a couple of spots that are clearing up, I have no angry spots, just a couple of scars that are clearing up. My skin is less red, looking calmer and glowier. All in all, my skin is just looking healthy.

I know most of you are wanting to know if I will continue using Proactiv. Which I will be. Probably not as often and as intensely as I currently am, but definitely will be continuing to use the products to help with angry breakouts. They really help to clear spots up quickly, which is needed sometimes!!

I am finally feeling confident in my skin. With my spots clearing up and my skin looking healthy, I now feel like I can reduce my make up and feel confident in enhancing my natural beauty. It is an insecurity I have struggled with for a long time and anyone who knows me well will tell you that it is something that brings me down all the time. I am over the moon to have finally found something that works.

You can pick up Proactiv from Chemist Warehouse, Priceline, Myer and selected Terry White Chemists.
