Thirst Quenching Skincare | Clarins Hydra-Essential

I doubt I am the only one struggling with hydration through this cold winter. My skincare is currently all about hydration to attempt to keep my skin hydrated and happy. The Clarins Hydra-Essentiel range turned up on my doorstep at the perfect time.

Clarins’ Research has studied daily thermic shocks and highlighted their impact on skin’s natural hydration levels for the first time. They discovered a powerful hydration activator in the heart of nature, a plant with succulent leaves: the organic leaf of life. Water is essential to life, as well as to your skin’s beauty, that’s why the new Hydra-Essentiel range helps restore the skin’s capacity to retain water thanks to the leaf of life extract: Intensely hydrated, skin is left radiant, fresh and smooth all day long.

Sudden daily temperature change can cause great stress to your skin, causing the skin's self-hydrating power decreases and the skin inevitably becomes dehydrated. The came up with a range designed to help re hydrate dry and dehydrated skin. The range is made up of a variety of 'thirst-quenching' textures designed to be used for all seasons, on any skin type.

Bi-Phase Serum* //

A refreshing, lightweight serum for thirsty skin that feels tight, lacks radiance and prematurely lined. It is designed to sheild the skin from dehydrating effects of daily thermic shocks that can leave it looking dry and weathered. It is designed to quench the skin with Organic Leaf of Life extract - a succulent plant that enhances the skin's ability to retain precious moisture, leaving your skin plump, radiant and perfectly hydrated.

It is a two part serum that you need to shake before applying the product, to mix the two solutions together. It is an extremely lightweight consistency, only a little thicker than water. I was actually quite surprised by the consistency, also because it doesn't have an oily texture either.

To me, this isn't the be-all and end-all to skin hydration. I wouldn't replace this for any of my other face oils or serums. I don't find it hydrating enough on it's own  HOWEVER, in saying that, I would use this in conjunction with them. My skin has been looking worn and uncomfortable and while my other serums and oils have been helping me with the hydration, I needed something to help prevent the dehydration coming back and improving the texture of my skin and this has definitely been helping. I have been applying this to my skin straight after cleansing, before my usual oil or serum. It has really helped with the texture of my skin and assisting in the re hydration process.

Cooling Gel* //

Cooling ice-blue gel restores radiance and comfort to thirsty skin, while promoting a shine-free complexion. Shields skin from the dehydrating effects of daily thermic shocks that leave it looking dry and weathered: sudden temperature changes, indoor and outdoor pollutants and environmental stress. Quenches skin with Organic leaf of life extract—a succulent plant that enhances the skin’s ability to retain precious moisture—for fresh, perfectly hydrated skin, even in the face of heat and humidity. Matte finish.

I didn't know how much I would really need a cool gel in winter. I mean, my skin is already cold enough. I do, however, love a gel moisturiser, so I was game! Let me be honest with you - I am really enjoying this moisturiser. It is hydrating and refreshing on dry skin, leaving your face feeling soft, without a sticky or oily residue on the skin.

If you're looking for something that leaves your skin with that almost oily, hydrated feeling, this might not be for you as it does have a matte finish, however I've been really enjoying how it leaves my skin feeling. I think this would be amazing through summer when my skin isn't quite as dry.

Milky Lotion* //

Luxurious silky cream delivers all-day hydration to thirsty skin, while shielding it from the dehydrating effects of daily thermic shocks that leave it looking dry and weathered: sun, sudden temperature changes, indoor and outdoor pollutants and environmental stress. Quenches skin with Organic leaf of life extract—a succulent plant that enhances the skin’s ability to retain precious moisture—leaving it comfortable, radiant and perfectly hydrated.

I definitely saved my favourite product for last. All of these are really fantastic, but the Milky Lotion is by far my favourite of the three. A lightweight, but creamy moisturiser that is super hydrating. I love the Clarins packaging and this is no exception, the pump is amazing and means no wastage and it is really hygienic too. Using this in conjunction with the serum works so well. It is perfect for use during the morning when you don't want a super thick moisturiser, but you need some good hydration. Apply straight after the serum and prepare to be amazed. I cannot fault this moisturiser at all. It's creamy and light and everything I want in a day time moisturiser. Added bonus? It also has SPF15+ to keep your skin protected from the sun.

If you need a moisturiser that is going to keep your skin hydrated and protect it from the harsh elements of the winter climate, than I highly recommend this one, especially if you don't want to be using thick moisturisers that feel like they're clogging the skin.
