Well that happened to me this week (woooopee!) and now with a greatly lowered self-esteem and constant avoidance of mirrors I am try to fix it. I was so excited to try this new product and I threw it on with excitement, the overwhelming joy of finally getting clear skin being too much to handle! Two days later my face started to itchy and become drier than it should...I decided it wasn't anything major and kept using the product for the rest of the week (BAD MOVE LAURA, SUCH A BAD MOVE!) and now we are here, with the blotchiest, red and itchy forehead ever...it's a mess.
I'm not going to lie, it is a real shot to the confidence when people start noticing the dry, peeling patches of skin on your forehead and start to make comments on it. Or when you can see that they keep looking at the major breakout that is happening on your chin from your body trying to stop those chemicals getting into your skin and slowly tearing it apart (queue the tiny violin....). It sucks. I remembered the last time this happened, when I was in high school and struggling with fitting in as it was. I know people say they never judge someone based on their looks, but they totally do!
This is where I could go on to some cliché thing about how we are all beautiful and shouldn't let people judge us and blah blah blah, but I'm not. I guess I started writing this post just to let those feelings out. I mean when I've mentioned how I'm feeling about my current skin state they just go "oh but you have such good skin and you're so pretty," which is lovely and all, but honestly I just want you to say "shit, that sucks man..." So there it is, my little whinge about how sad and sorry my skin currently is. I hope some of you can relate and get a giggle about my skin, which will be totally find in a couple of weeks I'm sure. Let me know your skin woes in the comments down below, I'd love to hear your sad skin stories! xx
UPDATE:

I set out over the weekend to buy some calming products to try and fix the damage I've now caused. I was ideally looking for calming products, something that would just hydrate and relieve. I've picked up some great soothing products, focussing particularly on products with Chamomile in them. The ladies at Aesop and Mecca have been a huge help in setting me up with a new skin care routine that should hopefully (fingers and toes and everything crossed) soothing my poor face.
- Aesop: Fabulous Face Cleanser - $31 for 100mL, $49 for 200mL.
- Aesop: Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner - $39 for 100mL, $65 for 200mL.
- Aesop: Camellia Nut Facial Hydating Cream - $49 for 60mL, $67 for 120mL.
- Darphin: Rose Aromatic Care - $63
