It seems like a rather odd statement to make about a foundation - a multipurpose product that doubles as a foundation and a concealer. Essentially removing one step from your make up routine. Mecca has just released a new foundation to their Mecca Max range that does just that.
The new Selfie Skin* Foundation is a 2-in-1 foundation and concealer that has a radiant matte finish. It claims to be high coverage with a second skin finish. Apply lightly for day or build it up, up and up to girl boss glam, then stipple over problem spots for added camouflage.
I was really intrigued when this foundation arrived on my doorstep. I haven't tried any base products from Mecca Max before, mostly because the foundation shades of their other products were never the right shade for me. This new foundation range has 20 different shades which cater to a wider variety than the other foundations in their range. It also has some really interesting claims that I was excited to test out. This foundation says that it is:
As for the finish, I was surprised by how glowy it was. This may be because I prepped my skin as if it was going to be matte. It wasn't an intense glow, and after applying a little powder, it looked like a radiant matte - matte, but not drying or cakey. The coverage was great - a medium coverage that still looked natural on the skin. I then took a small amount and applied it over my spots like a concealer. It was definitely buildable from the medium coverage and I was impressed by how well it covered everything, even some super intense spots. I still took my normal under eye concealer, as I found the foundation too thick for under my eyes. I prefer something a little lighter and creamier.
Now let's talk staying power - it lasted pretty well, looking good throughout the day. I did set with a little bit of power (which I wouldn't normally do) and sprayed a bit of MAC Fix+. It looked great on my cheeks, however did wear a little bit through my T-Zone. As I have mentioned in almost all my foundation reviews, getting something that doesn't wear in my t-zone, particularly on my chin, is a difficult thing for me. I don't know whether it's that I touch my chin a lot or that foundation just doesn't last well on my chin, but it does go a little cakey and patchy. This was definitely the case for the Selfie Skin. It didn't look horrendous, but did have some noticeable signs of wear.
Overall, I was really impressed with this foundation. The flawless finish it gave to my skin was AMAZING! I haven't tried a foundation recently that has given that kind of coverage and finish and I love it. It is definitely something I am going to be reaching for more, particularly through winter when I want some coverage but also still want that kind of radiant look.
Have you tried the new Selfie Skin foundation yet? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Let me know in the comments below! xx
