Healthy, Beautiful Skin

Hey, it's me, back with another foundation review for the fortnight. Today we are talking about a foundation that gives you 'healthy, beautiful skin'. I feel like I am currently reaching for foundations that have beautiful ingredients to care for your skin a the moment. So let's chat about the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation* from Bobbi Brown.

Formulated with Lychee, Bamboo Grass and Cordyceps Mushroom extracts, this high-powered formula helps give skin the energy it needs to look fresher and younger. Super silky emulsion floats over skin's surface for a flawless yet natural look–instantly and day after day. For anyone who wants the treatment benefits of a serum combined with the flawless, skin tone correct coverage of Bobbi Brown foundations. Ideal for normal to dry skin.

So what makes this foundation different from your typical foundation? Goes beyond the surface, beautifying skin with a powerful combination of serum ingredients. Helps support skin's cellular energy and also offers key anti-aging benefits for a smoother, firmer, more lifted look. Ultrafine pigments cover imperfections without settling into fine lines. Plus, SPF 25 helps prevent future damage.

I have been eyeing off the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation for a while now, mostly because, thanks to my dry skin, I love the idea of a serum foundation - something that cares for your skin while also giving you a flawless finish.

It is a really interesting foundation, it comes in a sleek black dropper style bottle. I am typically not a fan of this foundation because it can be hard to get the foundation out at the end, but I am not up to there yet, so I can't comment on that (I'll get back to you). The consistency of the foundation is quite light and runny, so is easy to get out of the dropper.

To apply, I first shake the bottle, then put a couple of drops either on my face or brush (depending how much I want to tempt fate into making a mess). I then blend into the skin with the brush. Being a lightweight consistency, it blends into the skin easily. I'd say that it has a light to medium coverage and a glowy finish.

I initially hated how this foundation looked on me. It just seemed to almost look patchy and it just wasn't sitting right. It just did not look like that natural, glowy foundation that I was hoping for. HOWEVER, maybe an hour later, it looked AMAZING! It took a while for the foundation to settle on the skin, but once it did, it looked great. Natural, glowy and fresh. I have found this happens a little bit when I wear the foundation. It sometimes just takes a while to settle on the skin. I am not sure if it's the foundation or how I prep my skin, I haven't worked it out yet. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's just something that I have to manage.

As for wearing power, it's definitely not the longest wearing foundation. It wears fairly well on my cheeks and forehead, but on my chin it definitely doesn't. I do struggle with foundation lasting on my chin, so this wasn't completely shocking to me. It didn't look terrible, don't get me wrong, but it's definitely not a foundation that I would reach for on long days.

Overall, it wasn't a foundation that wowed me. For me, it was a bit fiddly to get to work, and while it looks great after application and through the day, it doesn't last extremely well. However, I do love the fresh and lightweight feeling of it. It will probably be something that I reach for on short days or when I am just running a couple of errands and want to even out my skin tone.

Have you tried the serum foundation before? I'd love to hear what your thoughts are! Let me know in the comments below xx
