Winter Must Have's: Face Mists and Lip Balms

This week is all about my Winter Must Have's. So far we have looked at cleansers, serums and moisturisers. Today we are going to touch on something slightly different. I will be talking all about face mists and lip balms, two crucial items in my skincare routine.

So if you missed it, every day this week I will be sharing my must haves for each part of my skincare routine. They are products that I trust and will be using throughout the colder months. Today's post is all about those added extras that make winter 10 times more comfortable.

Now, bear in mind that I have drier skin and through winter my skin gets quite temperamental while it is cold. I go for hydrating products designed to give my skin that boost to stop it from being dry, irritated and unhappy. While I have tried to include a variety of products in each of these posts, some may be less suited to oilier skin types than others.

Through winter, I need little added extras to keep my skin off. This is where face mists come in. Some of you will have previously heard me about face mists and how I didn't really understand them. Once upon a time, this was true. However, I have recently found a couple that are incredible and I've fallen in love.

Jurlique | Rosewater Balancing Mist Deluxe Edition*

Hydrate with the lush mist of Rose. Our Rosewater Balancing Mist Intense Deluxe Edition hydrates, refreshes and soothes. Its limited edition blend is enriched with the extracts of four unique Roses and one Hibiscus hand-harvested at their peak. This is skin bliss in an intensely scented spritz.

I have been a fan of the original Rosewater Balancing Mist for a while now, it is the perfect refreshing mist to rejuvenate and wake up tired skin. However, the Deluxe Edition has won me over even more. Think original Rosewater mist, but with extra, added hydration. It is like the original mist, but on steroids. I love how hydrating and refreshing it is, but with the same iconic rose scent. The only downside about it is that being a deluxe edition it comes in a rather large bottle, so it is not great for the handbag, which is ideally where I like to store my mist. Though, for sitting on your desk at work, it is perfect!

Tatcha | Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

Akin to a mist-on moisturiser, this deeply hydrating, glow-granting elixir replenishes moisture and boosts radiance for a plump, supple and next-level luminous complexion. This milky emulsion is loaded with a blend of squalene, red algae and Tatcha's anti-ageing, antioxidant-rich HADASEI-3™ complex that acts to rehydrate and bring life back to dull, parched skin. Mist on bare skin or over foundation to instantly soften, smooth, refresh and give a lustworthy dewiness to your complexion.

I think this is the mist that converted me to mists. I have never tried a mist like this before and I am so glad I bought it when I did. Right before my wedding, my skin went so dry and flaky and I wanted something I could easily apply throughout the day to refresh and rehydrate my skin. So I picked this up and I have not looked back. I apply this under make up, over make up or just by itself when I am having a no make up day and it does wonders. It takes dry, dull looking skin and gives it an instant luminous glow. It has been the perfect way to refresh skin and keep it hydrated through winter. Plus the bottle is slim enough to carry everywhere with you, so you can refresh on the go.

I don't know about you, but I can't survive winter without a good lip balm in my kit. My lips get so dry and sore through winter, particularly when I inevitably get sick. I have, luckily, found a couple of incredible lip balms this year that have completely changed the game for me.

FRESH | Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy

Sugar Lip Treatment Advanced Therapy is an ultra-nourishing lip treatment proven to significantly boost moisture, enhance volume, and improve the definition of the lip area. It helps to smoothen the lips, keeping it moisturized for 24 hours. It helps to protect the lips overnight, remove dry flakes, improving the condition of dry lips.

When FRESH got released on Sephora earlier this year I couldn't not grab a couple of the lip balms, including this one. I have been so glad I did as this is an incredible lip balm. Often I find that hydrating lip balms don't smell or taste good, which is disappointing because I need to lather it on during winter. This one both smells and tastes good, as well as being super hydrating. It comes in stick form, which is easy to apply. It has a citrusy flavour to it, which is really refreshing. It isn't a thick balm, but is super hydrating and keeps your lips hydrating for a long time. I don't go anywhere without this guy in my hand bag at the moment.

FRESH | Sugar Caramel Hydrating Lip Balm

A sinfully rich, cushiony balm that delivers 24-hour moisture with an addictive caramel scent and a velvety shine—but no sticky after feel. This next-generation lip balm immediately locks in moisture and delivers unbeatable 24-hour hydration for soft, healthy, plump-looking lips with an addictive caramel scent and flavor.

This was another lip balm that I had to grab because of the amazing things I had heard about it. I was soooo glad I did, because it's amazing (I'm already onto my second jar). I apply this lip balm morning and night and I love how it replenishes my lips and leaves them hydrated and happy. I don't usually like lip balms in little jars because I don't like getting the tacky feeling on my fingers, but this is an exception. It is hydrating but not sticky or tacky. It leaves your lips looking hydrating and plump, but not overtly shiny. Plus, it smells and tastes like caramel...what more could you want?!

Aspect | Gold Hydrating Lip Balm*

Containing no exfoliating ingredients to irritate the lips, Aspect Gold Hydrating unisex Lip Balm provides intense moisture and long-lasting protection from dry, cracked lips.

I was recently introduced to this little lip balm and it's safe to say it was love at first sight. It is in stick form, which is my favourite kind of lip balm, making it super easy to use, carry and store. It is a simple, no-fuss lip balm that is intensely hydrating. I can apply this in the morning and my lips are hydrated for the rest of the day. The slim tube makes it easy to carry in my pocket or hand bag, meaning I can take it everywhere. It really is a little tube of wonder!

There it is, my little list of bonus extras that I cannot live without. What are those little extra pieces of skincare that you cannot live without? Let me know in the comments below xx

Tomorrow is the final instalment of Winter Must Have's and being Friday it is only fitting that I will be talking Face Masks. Tomorrow's post will be all about my favourite hydrating face masks for winter!
