Relaxation Central : Beauty Bar International

Seeing as I have been on school holidays, I have been trying to get as much relaxation as I can. When I was invited to have a facial at the Beauty Bar International, I could not say no!

Tucked away on a quiet corner of the ever growing Jamison Centre, you will find the Beauty Bar. Opened in 2005 by Mikaela Boundy, they are dedicated to providing professional beauty treatments and helping their clients discover the balance of skin health and true relaxation.

Last week I was lucky enough to go along for a Payot facial with the lovely Mikaela. I have never used any Payot products before, nor have I had any Payot treatments either, so I was very excited about the facial. Mikaela explained it to me as a lovely hydrating and relaxing facial. The Payot Hydration Essential Collagen facial is an immediate hydrating, soothing and plumping facial, using a collagen mask to help infuse moisture into the skin.

When I arrived at Beauty Bar, Mikaela took me into the room and discussed the facial with me before letting me get myself ready. When she came back in, she dimmed the lights and set up the facial steamer while she prepared the products. I have only had one other facial that used a facial steamer and during that facial I was on the fence about it. However, today at Beauty Bar, I loved it. It was calming, hydrating on the skin and warming (which is what we all want during winter!) I feel like it just helped put me into a calming trance, that continued throughout the entire treatment.

The treatment consisted of a cleanse, exfoliation, mask, collagen mask and then a moisturiser to finish. During the mask, Mikaela gave most amazing head, neck and shoulder massage, which is honestly the best way to relax during a facial (and Mikaela's massages were amazing...I would go back for those alone!).

The treatment itself went for about 90 minutes, but it felt like time flew by. It was both calming on the skin and on the mind. I mean...I almost fell asleep multiple times, that's how calming it was. The products themselves don't have a strong scent, which is a plus for me - I don't love facials that use products with overpowering scents. However, they do have that subtle, luxurious spa scent. If you are worried about irritation or sensitivity, I would say that this treatment would be perfect for you (but if you're unsure than Mikaela will be able to direct you to the perfect treatment). My skin did not appear red or irritated afterwards. It was clear, hydrated and glowy (everything I have ever wanted).

Now, full disclosure, this post is NOT sponsored, but the facial was gifted, but that does not impact the statement I am about to make, whatsoever. I think this facial has to be one of the best facials I have ever had. It ticked all the boxes for me - effective, relaxing and friendly! If you are in Canberra I cannot recommend Mikaela and the Beauty Bar enough. Not only do they do facials, but you can get massages, manicures, waxing, hair removal, IPL and feathertouch brows. Basically it is the one stop shop for beauty treatments! They also stock Payot and Dermalogica, so you can get all your at home products to compliment your treatments as well. I received a couple of Dermalogica and Payot products to try at home, so stay tuned for some thoughts on them soon!
