The Foundation Files: Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation

It's been a while since I have done a Foundation Files, but I am back baby! I have had a few requests about this foundation and my review is finally here! Let's talk about Bobbi Brown's new foundation - the Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation*.

Before we start, I just wanted to give you a little overview of what you can expect from all of my Foundation Files posts (if you've read a Foundation Files before, you can probably skip this, unless you need a little recap). In each review I will give you photos of my skin before application, immediately after application and at the end of the day. I will talk about how I prep my skin before applying, as well as the method that I use to apply. I will also talk about the coverage and finish, as well as how well I think it wears throughout the day. Now as for my skin type (which will impact what I think of foundations) I have dry/normal skin. I do have blemish and pigmentation concerns, particularly in my T-Zone. Without further adieu, let's get into it!

The Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation* is a 16-hour wear, full coverage foundation with a natural, multidimensional matte finish that's comfortable, breathable and weightless. Created through a high speed cold fusion process, this ultra-silky emulsion features a perfectly balanced blend of skin-loving ingredients, oil controlling actives and skin-true pigments. Incredibly smooth and blendable, it glides on with a second-skin feel and multidimensional matte finish. Pigments are precisely balanced through artistry expertise to skin's top tones and undertones to deliver the most natural-looking shade range for all skin tones. It essentially claims to be a long wearing foundation with a natural, matte finish that feels light and comfortable, almost like you are not wearing foundation at all.

There has been a lot of hype around this foundation so I was very excited when it turned up on my doorstep. I definitely had a couple of concerns about how the matte type formula would sit on my skin, especially as I tend to be on the drier side. I have used it a few times now, but I tested it out on a slightly longer day to share some results with you.

Knowing it was a matte formula I made sure to prep my skin well, applying the Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm* after my skincare. I then apply the foundation using a damp beauty blender. It is a thicker formula, but it blends into the skin really easily. It reminds me almost of a thick foam consistency - thick, but light at the same time, if that makes sense? I used probably three pumps (YES IT COMES WITH A PUMP!!) to apply the foundation to my whole face, and then about half a pump extra if my skin was looking particularly bad and needed to cover up some spots or blemishes.

It has a medium to full coverage. I find that I can blend it out if I want it to be a little more natural, or I can build if up if I want a fuller coverage. I do have to say I find it lasts better if I opt for more of a medium coverage. I sprayed some MAC Fix+ Mist* to set and then went off on my day. The finish is definitely a semi-matte finish - a natural but not flat and dry kind of matte. It leaves your skin looking healthy and flawless.

Now I have to say, the first time I wore this foundation I hated it. It went cakey and dry in all the wrong places and looked terrible by the end of the day. However, I persisted with it and now I actually really like it. When my skin is particularly dry, I do find it is harder to wear this foundation, but on a good day this foundation looks amazing and lasts extremely well. I get the usual noticeable wear through my t-zone, particularly on my chin, but every where else it looks great!

Do I love it? No. It won't be my every day foundation, but I can see this being amazing on a good skin day and through summer. If you have oily or normal skin, this would be beautiful for you! It definitely still works for dry skin, you just have to prepare your skin a little bit more. It has a beautiful finish and lasts really well.
