Blogmas Day 22: Natural Deodorant

If you're anything like me, you need a good deodorant in summer. Body odour makes me super self conscious, so I am always on the look out for a trusty deodorant to keep me safe through the hot weather. Will a natural deodorant cut it? We've put No Pong to the test, to see whether it could stand up to the test?

For those of you who haven't heard of No Pong before, it is a extremely effective, All natural, anti odourant. Their deodorants are made from delicious, all natural ingredients, blended together to create a ridiculously effective, sweat resistant, all day deodorant that does exactly what it says on the tin. Their deodorants are all 100% paraben, aluminium, cruelty and plastic free.

They have two options for deodorants. The Original No Pong*, a super-natural, bicarb based deodorant. It claims to keep you fresh for up to 12 options. The tin contains 35g, which they equate to a month of armpit odour free living for everyone around you. It is currently $5.95, with $3 shipping (it retails for $9.95). The other option is the new Bicarb Free, Low Fragrance No Pong*. This option is designed for everyone, but especially for people sensitive to bicarb deodorants and fragrances. Again, it has 35g equalling one month, that is low fragrance, gentle on the skin and super effective. The online price starts at $6.95, with $3 shipping (retailing for $10.95).

I had a little bit of helping in writing this review. Cue in Mr TLOL, who took this little tin of goodness on an overseas trip to put it to the test.

For the past several months I’ve been mildly annoyed that I’m still using aerosols. They don’t really smell that great, they can often feel chalky and uncomfortable against my skin, and I just can’t shake the reality that they are not a great environmental option.

Cue a work trip to South Africa for a couple of weeks with my work (yay but also, I don’t know if you know this, Africa can get kinda hot!) and I wanted a deodorant that didn’t take up too much space and did the job just right.

No Pong Natural Anti Odorant ticks all of my boxes. It’s small, so it’s ideal to use when travelling; it does the job all day, perfect in summer; it feels completely comfortable on my skin, no weird after-effects; and it’s a much environmentally conscious option!

There are some things that are a little awkward about using No Pong. Since it’s basically a paste, you really have to get your hands involved scooping it out of the little jar and rubbing it into your underarms. This made my hands lose all their natural moisture immediately, which I guess is a good sign that it works, but felt pretty weird. That problem was fixed after a quick wash of my hands.

Once it is applied, it doesn't feel sticky at all. It melts into the skin easily and quickly. I am not left with cakey, white powder under my arms later like I would sometimes find with an aerosol alternative. Best of all, it doesn't leave me with white marks on my clothing, or skin. It's like it's not even there, but it helps to protect any odour from escaping.

Will I continue to use it? Yes, I will! While I'm still not completely sold on the application technique, I think the product itself works really well. I would also 110% take it travelling again as well. It is super easy to transport and take overseas (plus it's easy to carry on the plane!) I honestly would not leave home without it.

It’s great to see companies stepping up, being environmentally aware and providing genuinely high quality products.
