Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer

Bobbi Brown Instant Full Cover Concealer

Bobbi Brown released a brand new concealer recently and I feel like it has been one of the most talked about concealers lately. Yes, I decided I wanted to jump in on the talk and share my thoughts.

So if you haven't heard, Bobbi Brown recently released their Instant Full Cover Concealer. It is designed to erase all evidence of dark circles, hollows and fine lines in a single sweep of this pigment-rich, ultra-creamy concealer for a fresh, wide-eyed effect. It comes in 12 different shades and retails for $52. Is it worth it?

I picked up the shade Ivory, which is probably the perfect shade for my paleness. It has a very thick consistency, much thicker than any other concealer I've used before. In saying that, it does blend out really well. I find that blending it in with my fingers works best. A sponge or brush works too, but I find that I get the smoothest finish when I used my fingers. Because it is so thick it has amazing coverage. Definitely full coverage a the name claims!! It works well to cover spots, or even to use underneath your eyes. Covers it all extremely well.

As you can see in this little swatch, the coverage is amazing. It's not quite a 'sharpie test' but it covers pen extremely well (haha)

The best way to reduce this is to apply less rather than more. The wand really helps to not get a lot of product, which at first I thought was a negative, but the more I used it the more I realised you really don't want to apply a lot of it. The wand itself is a thick doe wand, that doesn't seem to pick up much product. It's quite a hard end, compared to other concealer wands, such as Nars or Urban Decay. After using the concealer for a little bit longer though, I have to say that this might actually work in it's favour.

But back to my original question - is it worth it? Look, I love it for those days when I have a horrendously large spot that looks like a mountain on my face, or those days where it looks like I have been punched in the eye because I'm so tired. However, it's not something I choose to wear on really long days. I find the finish really tacky and one that never quite sets, so it transfers really easily. Because it's so thick, I also find that it gets a little bit cakey through the day as well, especially on my dry skin.

I really wanted to fall head over heals in love with this concealer. And I won't lie, it is good, but I probably  wouldn't purchase it again over something like Nars, or even my Maybelline holy grail. This might also be because I do like the lighter coverage at the moment, rather than a full coverage, so this might be perfect for you if full coverage is your jam. I'll definitely be saving it for those 'need to cover' days or even if I am going a full coverage look for an event, but it definitely won't be my every day concealer.

Have you tried the Instant Full Cover Concealer? What are your thoughts?
