Holiday Trash Talk!

When you go away you naturally take lots of smaller products to save room. Well for my month away that's exactly what I did! Which was pretty lucky, because I needed lots of room to pack all the things I bought. So what did I get through? You're in the right place to find out!!

I am trying to give mini reviews (one or two sentences) for each of them as well! Also the pictures are made up of products from each category, I didn't think about my photo taking very well when I threw things out...

1. Ego Skincare QV Rescue Gel $18: Love love love this stuff, it's a perfect base after cleansing to stop my skin having an allergic reaction!

2. Darphin Camomile Aromatic Care - $83: Perfect for sensitive skin, if this stuff wasn't so expensive I would have bottles locked away in my cupboard...

3. Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair - from $95: Maybe it's because I don't have any signs of ageing yet, but I didn't notice any difference in my skin while I was using it. It is hydrating though!

4. Pixi Beauty Make Up Melting Face Wipes - $17.50: My favourite face wipes ever! They don't have alcohol in them, so they are great for all skin types. The wipes are big and make it easy to get make up off! Plus theres 40 in a pack (awesome value!)

5. Skinfix Ultra Rich Hand Cream: This is a great hand cream for dry hands, but it is quite thick and can be hard to work into the skin.

6. MAC Cosmetics Sized to Go Pro Eye Makeup Remover - $15: I don't know if any of you have tried this, but I hated it, it stung my eyes, as if there was alcohol in it...eye make up remover shouldn't do that!!!

7. Apot.Care Micellar Lotion - $59: The most expensive Micellar Water I've ever used, but it really is amazing. Probably not $59 amazing, but it is hydrating and the perfect way to remove make up and doesn't irritate the skin at all.

8. Nip+Fab Dragons Blood Fix Cleansing Pads - $21.99: I didn't notice any amazing results with these pads, but they left my skin feeling clean and fresh!

9. Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads $34.99: I've only used 5 of these from the sample pack, but I really enjoyed them! They smelt amazing and made my skin feel fresh and clean.

10. Origins Clear Improvements Face Mask - from $25: My favourite face masks that help to clear up my blemishes and this size was perfect for a month away!

11. Josie Maran Bear Naked Makeup Wipes - from $8: Unfortunately had to throw this out with only one or two used, my skin hated them :(

Make Up

12. Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner Mini -  from $18: It's a great eyeliner, but I've recently gone off it. The mini actually didn't work for me while I was away, it was probably dried up or something...

13. Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminator - $39: This is a great highlighter to use under foundation, mixed with foundation or over the top! I don't like liquid highlighters, but it does blend very well without making you look like a glitter ball.

14. Becca Aqua Luminous Foundation - $72: I have to admit I don't really like this foundation, it isn't thick enough for me and leaves me a little too dewy...

15. Benefit They're Real Mascara Mini - $20: It's a great mascara, perfect for volume and length. It can smudge throughout the day sometimes though.

16. Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray - from $23: I'm still not sold on this product. I'm not convinced by make up setting sprays, they don't really seem to extend my make up, but it's a great way to keep your skin hydrated.

17. Rohr Remedy Gumbi Gumbi Lip Balm - $16: A great, hydrating lipbalm that soaks into your lips! Love love love it.

18. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - $26: The best hydrating lip balm, but with a nice nude shimmer to it - keep your lips hydrated and looking fantastic!

19. Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer - $70: So much hype, but I found this primer sooo drying! My skin did not enjoy it at all, I ended up having to take it off and using a new primer :( I found the same with the two other types of primers as well. Though the calming primer is green so great for red skin tones!

20. Benefit Porefessional Face Primer - from $20: Much like the Dermalogica I found this really drying. It felt like it blocked any moisturiser off from my skin.

21. Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue - $56: If the original was drying, this one was worst. Clearly Benefit primers and my dry/combo skin don't work so well together!

22. Mecca Hydrating Primer - from $17: One of my new favourite primers, keeps my make up fresh without drying my skin out.

23. Urban Decay Original Eyeshadow Primer -  $33: It's a great primer, but I had the brush applicator, I'd prefer to be able to squeeze it out of the tube.

Hair Products

24. Schwarzkopf Sea Salt Beach Look Texture Spray - from $2: Left my hair oily and sticky without the textured look. So sad...

25. Eleven Miracle Hair Treatment - $24.95: Love hair products that do everything for me! I'm lazy, so this product is perfect for me! AND IT WORKS!

26. Eleven Hydrate My Hair Moisture Shampoo - $22.95: I usually don't like hydrating shampoos, because it makes my hair oily, but this one is amazing: smells good and leaves my hair so damn soft!

27. Eleven Hydrate My Hair Moisture Conditioner - $23.95: Read the shampoo review, same thoughts. LOVE IT!

28. Klorane Nettle Shampoo - $13.95: A no frills shampoo that really helps with oil control! (from the girl with the oiliest hair!!!)

Other Toiletries

29. 3x Colgate Mouthwsah - from $4: I love mouthwash and went through sooo many bottles (only three but thats many!)

30. Lush Miranda Soap Sample - from $6.95: So cute and a lovely fresh smell. I don't like soap bars, so I wouldn't repurchase, especially as it didn't lather very much, but it was great for travelling.

31. Sephora Vanilla Body Wash - $5: I ran out of soap so I bought this because it was cheap and smelt nice. It foamed well and is great value for money!

32. Sephora Make Up Brush Cleanser - $6: I'm still uncertain about this. It doesn't clean as well as an actual clean, but also it does a fine job for every day cleaning.

33. Colgate Optic White Toothpaste - from $9: Leaves your breath minty fresh! Still uncertain about the teeth whitening...

34. 2x Razor: Don't remember the brand, but hey a girl needs silky smooth legs in summer!

35. Colgate Toothbrush: Gotta keep my pearly whites clean!

36. Mitchum Clinical Powder Fresh - $12.95: A gel deodorant, I never thought I'd like a gel deodorant, but I love it, it's my favourite deodorant ever and keeps me fresh all day, even in summer!

37. Beauty Care Makeup Remover Pads: Eye make up remover, micellar water, I needed to use a few of these...

38. Neutrogena Cool Dry Sport Spray - $17: From the last Priceline goodie bag. It is an easy sunscreen to use, spray on and go without feeling like a grease ball!

39. Soap and Glory Righteous Butter - from $4: One of my favourite body moisturisers, smells amazing and leaves your skin feeling heavenly!!

40. Sephora Gradual Self Tanning Lotion - $20: I started to get a tan while I was away, so of course I needed a way to prolong it and keep that golden glow going!!! This is gradual and streak free, but it shows up within the next day.

40 products?! I went through 40 things?! No wonder my bag was 2kg lighter coming home. I really should've bought that bottle of wine!

If you went through the whole thing, thank you <3

  1. Good work!
I find holidays are good for finishing products as you do limit your choices a bit when your away, even if you don't finish products, I generally make a good dent.

  2. I love travel and i love packing all my mini travel products. Im heading off in october for a trip through the USA and i will be away for 7 weeks. Most of that time I will be in the one location but I have one night away from home here in QLD to start with as im staying close to the airport the night before i fly out. then 2 nights in LA then a week in Vegas and then off to the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania with perhaps a couple of one night trips here and there.
I will have to see if I can beat your 40 used products :)

    1. Oh wow that sounds amazing!!! I'm so jealous!! I'm sure you can top my 40 ;) I was only gone for four weeks haha though I was a little amazed by how many I got through! Good luck on your trip!!

  3. 40 products in a month is bloody good Laura! I doubt I'll be able to get through that many when I go away in 13 days (I'll be away for 2 months), but then again I'm not taking travel-sized products (some are full size, others I'm decanting into travel bottles) because I don't have any in my stash. I am hoping to get through a few things whilst away since I'll be shopping up a storm once I get to America!

  4. Wow, you got through a whole lot! Loved reading this because I get your opinion on lots of different beauty products, which is helpful. I just bought those Nip+Fab Cleansing Pads in the Priceline sale, can't wait to try them :)

  5. I love travel sized products and always keep a heap in my toiletries bag for my travels but it was awesome seeing your selection and what you went through! I will definitely have to try the Pixi Makeup Melting Face Wipes and the Origins Clear Improvements Face Mask - they sound incredible! Love the Josie Maran Illuminator but I didn't really like the Colgate Optic White Toothpaste, it made my teeth super sensitive and not really much whiter :) x

  6. Wow! 40 products whilst on holidays! That's amazing! I love Estee Lauder products when I can get my hands on samples of them through various beauty subscription boxes. They are usually out of my budget for purchasing!

  7. Golly Laura, this would have to be the cutest collection of products I've ever seen! Clever you for putting it all together, and even more so for finishing them lol. Great review and ever so helpful hon xxx

  8. well done for finishing all these products :) QV products are absolutely beautiful!

    Lily not Louise

    1. I love QV! They are perfect for my sensitive skin :)
