Essential Fragrances

I remember a time (maybe 8 months ago) when I had one perfume that I would wear all the time, never changing from that. It would be Mariah Carey Dreams and nothing else. However, over recent times I have accumulated a number of new fragrances and thought it was about time I share my essential 4 perfumes with you!

Bear in mind, that all of these scents are quite different from each other and I honestly didn't expect to like all of them as much as I do. Also, if you don't already know, I suck at describing how things smell, but thanks to the brands I am going to do my best to describe them all. But enough chit chat, let's just get into it.

Guess 1981 Perfume*

This was a recent release from Guess and as you may remember, it also made an appearance in my May Favourites that is how much I have been loving it.
Sophisticated, confident, timeless: Introducing GUESS 1981, the new modern fragrance for women, inspired by the heritage of the brand and the classic elegance of the GUESS girls who remain iconic today.

It is a sexy and sophisticated Floral Musk, opening with delicate violet and warm, woody ambrette. Then it reveals soft, tantalizing jasmine petals, sweet juicy pear and lingering sandalwood. It finishes off with an earthy cedarwood, intoxicating amber and next-to-skin musk.

It is mature and sophisticated, but with a bit of an edge to it. It lasts really well and has honestly just been so nice to wear. If you're looking for something that is a mix of sexy and classy, then I highly recommend this one.

MAC Créme D'Nude

I eyed this perfume off for months before I finally caved and bought it and boy am I glad I did! MAC released their fragrance range this year based on some of their iconic lipsticks. I picked up Créme D'Nude as my favourite from all the perfumes.

Their website describes it as an Amber Musk scent, but I would definitely add that it has a vanilla undertone, which is what completely won me over. It was the vanilla scent in this perfume that had me sold from the moment I smelt it. It's sweet, but sophisticated and edgy at the same time.

What I have actually been most impressed about with this perfume is it's lasting power. I typically can't smell my perfume come morning tea/lunchtime during the day, but this one I can still smell by the end of the day. Not to the same intensity, but it's still there!

Scentbird: Nest Fragrances Citrine*

Scentbird is a bit like your beauty subscription, but you essentially sign up and each month you get sent a 30 day supply of a perfume, which is super easy to insert into the spray bottle. This month I had a Nest Fragrance perfume in the scent Citrine.

The dewy softness of lotus flower and freesia are set against sparkling citrus notes and hints of precious woods. Notes: Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord, Precious Woods Style: Bright. Refreshing. Sparkling.
It is a really fresh and zesty fragrance, but gentle enough that it doesn't feel like you are just wearing lemon kitchen cleaner. I didn't think I'd love this as much as I do, but it is such a nice fragrance to wear. I will almost definitely be buying a full size bottle the next time I am at Sephora in Sydney.

The Body Shop White Musk

Out of all four, I think this one was the most surprising addition to my collection recently. I am usually not a big fan of musky scents, but when I smelt this I had to pick it up.

The delicate sensuality of our signature musk is enveloped by the welcoming clean freshness of Spring. The White Musk® L’Eau fragrance is sweetened with notes of pear for a deliciously fruity layer that fits effortlessly with the iconic floral blend lily of the valley, jasmine and rose essence.

What came through strongest in this is the scent of apple, but not in that 'I just boiled apples for apple pie' kind of scent. Rather it was a really refreshing apple scent, mixed with floral notes and jasmine. I feel like it's probably the most mature scent out of all of them, but I love it nonetheless and I think it will be the perfect winter and spring scent.

So there it is, the current four perfumes I have been wearing non-stop on rotation. What are your current favourite perfumes? I am always on the hunt for more scents to wear!
