Raw Zen Skincare is formulated and founded in Canberra, Australia. Their vision was to create a premium skincare collection that is affordable, whilst being jammed packed with naturally derived ingredients. Run by a mother, daughter team, they found that too many skincare products were full of unnecessary and harmful ingredients, so they created their own with natural beauty at it's core.
I have been lucky enough to try a couple of their skincare recently and I, naturally, had to share it with you guys. A girl has to promote her local beauty companies!! First off, I have to start off by saying I love the packaging. It is sleek, simple and black. My three favourite things when it comes to packaging. They look so high end, but are actually quite affordable, especially for how well they work.
Mystery Serum*
Raw Zen's Mystery Serum contains a combination of vitamins, plant oils and antioxidants. A nourishing serum, that will rejuvenate your skin and boost that daily protection you skin needs to stay healthier, stronger and useful.I was immediately intrigued by the name of this serum. I mean, who doesn't love a little bit of mystery in their life. Now normally, I don't like mystery in my skincare, I like to know what I am putting all over my face, but this is a mystery I can definitely live with. There is Olive Oil, Natural Vitamin E, Calendula Certified Organic Infused Oil, amongst many other delicious ingredients that your skin will love.
I have been using this day and night, using about 1-2 pumps (got to save that gorgeous goodness!) on my fingertips and massaging it in my face and décolletage (your neck and boobs, but décolletage sounds wayyy fancier). Then follow with a good moisturiser, and you're set to go! Safe to say, my skin loves it! With the cooler weather typically trying to dry out my skin as much as it can, this serum has already been a life saver! It keeps my skin hydrated and greatly nourished all day, my skin does not get that dry, cracked feeling throughout the day (added bonus!) This is going to be my saviour through winter! No more dry skin for me!!!
Pink Clay Exfoliating Mask*
Both a mask and an exfoliant? Two in one?! Those are my favourite kind of products! Formulated with Pink Australian Clay Powder and fine Bamboo, it is designed for stressed and sensitive skin with ultimate hydrating and moisturising benefits. Yes - ULTIMATE! For someone who has dry skin, I always want ultimate moisturising benefits.
It contains Kaolin (my fave!), Pastel Pink Australian Clay, Quartz and Bamboo Fine Face Exfoliate. That is it, that is all it contains. So simple. I love it all ready. Now there are two different ways you can use this, as we have already discovered.
(1) Face Mask: Place 1 teaspoon of clay in a small bowl, add 1 teaspoon of water until it forms a paste, then apply to your face. I like to use a brush to apply it, just because it's easier and less messy, but you can use your fingers as well. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, or until the clay dries (which is actually very quickly), then wash with warm water.
(2) Exfoliant: Place 1 - 2 teaspoons of the clay into a small bowl, add 1 teaspoon of water until it forms a paste. Massage gentle over the skin with fingertips, then remove with warm water. Alternatively, what I like it do is put 1-2 teaspoons into wet hands, and massage between my hands for a couple of second before applying it on my face. I typically do this in the shower so it's not as messy. It's also easier than having to spend time mixing, and still works as well.
I tend to make my face mask a little thinner in consistency, and my exfoliant a little thicker, because it's easier to massage into the skin. I love that you can do either though. I might use it as a mask on a Sunday, when I have time to let it set, and then use it as an exfoliant one or twice during the week before I cleanse my skin.
I LOVE THIS MASK! It is so easy to use and mix, and applies so easily. My skin also feels so nice afterwards - hydrated and refreshed. Yes, hydrated! A powder face mask let my skin feeling hydrated. Amazing, it's a winner. Using it as an exfoliant is also great for when my skin is just feeling a bit lifeless or irritated during the week, a quick 30 second to 1 minute massage and it feels great again.
So enough rambling, I could keep talking about how much I'm enjoying these, but you will get sick of listening to me sooner or later and I don't want that. So we'll leave it there. I am loving Raw Zen Skincare at the moment, not just because it is from Canberra (CBR REPRESENT!) but also because they are just so effective and leave my skin feeling so good. I would definitely recommend looking into the brand as well. Their parcels arrive wrapped and looking beautiful, it's definitely exciting to come home to!
