1. Scrubba dub dub! Exfoliation is key.
The secret to smooth skin? Exfoliation my friends! Not only will a good exfoliation session leaving your feeling soft and smooth, it also helps prepare your skin for hair removal and tanning. Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells which helps get a closer shave and fight signs of ageing, as well as leaving your skin ready to create the perfect, even tan!
Some of my favourite scrubs and exfoliators include literally any of the scrubs from Scrubba Body*, The Body Shop Spa of The World African Ximenia Scrub and for your face the Asap Daily Exfoliating Facial Scrub* is perfect.
If you aren't a fan of messy, or grainy scrubs than I have another alternative for you! The Bump Eraiser Zesty Wash*, while smelling interesting, when paired with the Bump Eraiser Exfoliating Mitt* it works amazingly. The mitt is quite coarse, but it will leave you feeling amazingly smooth!
2. Hair Removal
Yes, I'm sorry ladies! It is time to defluff those legs and get them ready to be seen again! Now there are a couple of different hair removal techniques. For me, I am a shaver lover (less pain!) and I highly recommend signing up to a Razor Alliance Plan*, because you'll never have to stress when it comes to defluffing again! You'll always have razors that are amazing quality, without the heavy price tag!
Alternatively, if you're a waxer (I tip my hat off to you!) then I find the Waxaway Ready to Use Wax Strips* work really well and are not messy or hard to use! Use an after wax oil or treatment to help soothe any irritation!
3. Summer glow in a can?
So now you're hair free and silky smooth! What's next? It's time to tan! Being in my moon boot thanks to my broken foot, I've been unable to tan at all. As soon as it comes off though I will be reaching for Liquid Sunshine by Kel* for that perfect summer tan look without the skin damage! They offer a variety of products perfect for the amateur or professional tanner!
4. SUN PROTECTION!!!!
This point is probably the most important out of any of them (hence why it is in capital letters and has lots of !!!) Protecting your skin is so so important. Not only does protection help with the ageing process of skin, but it can also help minimise the risk of skin cancer. I have started trying to applying sunscreen every morning before I leave the house to get in the habit of wearing sunscreen. I love the Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen 50+ it smells amazing and works so well. The new Mecca Cosmetica Sunbrella is also perfect for extra protection - chuck it in your hand bag and spray on your face before you're due to go outside.
Don't forget your lips either! I love the Sun Bum Key Lime Lip Balm* it tastes like a Splice ice block, hydrates your lips AND protects from the sun!
5. Deodorant
I bet this is something you haven't thought about too much coming into summer! But heat = sweat, which leaves you SMELLY! Gross, you don't want that. I'm love the Mr Pitts Natural Deodorant* at the moment. It is super gentle on the skinm but keeps the stink at bay. Want to know all about it? Read my blog post!
Those are the five things I always start to think about as warmer weather starts to kick in. Some are more important than others (i.e. sun protection) but I always increase all of these five things when I'm getting my skin ready to see the sunlight again.
What are your summer essentials? Have I missed anything?
