2016 Favourites

Welcome to Day 9 of Blogmas!

I cannot believe it is almost the end of the year! That I have almost been blogging for a year! It feels like yesterday that I just began my blog and this whole journey. It has been a total whirlwind. It has been a year of trying new things, particularly with beauty. My skin has been awful, so it has been a year of trying to fix that and build my confidence back in myself. To commemorate the end of the year, I wanted to share what my 2016 favourites were. With all the new products I have tried this year, it was a hard choice to narrow it down, but I have tried to keep it as short as possible (it won't be short...I apologise...) but here we go!

So many products to choose from when it comes to make up. I have (as usual) bought so much make up this year and to narrow my favourites down wasn't an easy task. These seven tasks (some old, some new) are my favourites from this year!

IT Cosmetics CC Cream - I don't think it's any secret that I am absolutely in love with this CC Cream. It is so pigmented, yet has a natural look to it. The shade I have at the moment it is a little two dark, but it's almost empty and then I can go lighter! If you missed it, you can read all about this here.

Poni Cosmetics The White Knight Mascara - This was a discovery for this year and I haven't regretted it! For so long I had issues with mascara smudging under and above my eyes. This is the only mascara I've ever used that doesn't do that. Plus it makes your eyelashes look amazing!

Maybelline Master Concealer - When you pick up a concealer because you're desperate and without a concealer and it becomes you absolute holy grail. Before 2016 I would never have been caught dead with a concealer that wasn't Nars, but this concealer is amazing for covering anything and everything. I now have three - one in the bathroom, bedroom and hand bag...

NYX Wonder Stick - I never thought I would like this and I picked it up only a few weeks ago and now I can't put it down. At the beginning of the year I wouldn't use anything other than powder, but I'm slowly moving into creams and this stick is definitely help. Plus it works wonders for contouring!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - The original palette that I finally picked up and have been in love with all year. For a subtle glow, or an intense highlight, these powders can do it all. Hourglass can just do no wrong!

Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - When you look for so long for an eyeliner that makes it easy. This eyeliner is exactly what I'd been looking for forever. It doesn't smudge, goes on black as anything and is easy to apply. It's a yes from me.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush* - I used to hate applying foundation with a brush, until I found this. It makes it so easy, blending your foundation effortlessly. Absolutely love this!

I think this was the most difficult category of all. I have tried so much new skincare this year and to pick my favourites was incredibly hard, I basically wanted to include them all. But I've narrowed it down to the best of the best.

Philosophy Take A Deep Breath Gel Cream* - 2016 was a year of falling in love with gel moisturisers. They are so light weight and many are extremely hydrating. This Philosophy gel is my favourite this year. It smells refreshing and just soaks into the skin so well. I always feel instantly relaxed when I apply this. Full review here.

Belle Botanicals Green Clay Mask* - This mask. Wow. So cheap, but will leave your skin feeling amazing. I am a face mask lover and this definitely tops my list as my number 1 face mask. Read all about it here.

Clarins Comfort Lip Oil - A god send for my dry lips. It is so hydrating and smells delicious. My lips have been super dry this year, but this oil has helped out a lot.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Serum* - Another favourite of mine. This serum has worked wonders for helping with my acne scarring and blemishes. From having awful red and blotchy skin, to an even skin tone, and a huge reduction in my blemishes. This is a wonder gel. If you want to read more about this serum, click here.

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter - This is an old love, a love that will probably never die. This butter melts into your skin, making it easy (and really relaxing) to remove your make up and cleanse your skin. It works for every skin type and is definitely my holy grail cleanser.

Ethique Saving Face Serum* - Two serums in my favourites?! What!! This is very different to the Nip + Fab one though. If you have dry skin, you NEED this. These serum bars are so hydrating and nourishing. They are also very interesting (serum in bar form?!) but I am in love.

Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen 50+ - I made a pact to get sunburnt less and to increase wearing sunscreen. This sunscreen has made that easy, mostly because it feels just like a moisturiser and smells amazing. I apply it under my make up and away I go! All sun protected.

This category was easy, but my haircare favourite of 2016 was bhave. Although I didn't jump on the bhave bandwagon until a few months ago, I can now never go back. I am in love and my hair has never felt so good. Click here to read all about it. If I had to pick just a couple of favourites, they would be:

Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner - These are my favourite out of the shampoos and conditioners I've tried. They smell amazing and leaving my hair light (which is odd for my thick hair) and soft, like silk.

Fresh Ends - The perfect fix to my split ends. I fill like I haven't noticed any split ends since I started using this, but it was maybe because I haven't looked as much because my hair just feels healthy and divine.

Supa Nova - A spray that detangles, protects and gives shine to your hair. Once again, smells delightful, but also works wonders. My favourite time to use this is after being out in the wind (which is fairly often in Canberra), as it brings life back to my hair, making it once again soft and tamed.

Bath and Body

I couldn't not include this category because (a) I love baths and (b) I have been using some amazing body products this year.

Mecca Cosmetica Hands On Transforming Hand Cream - This stuff is amazing and smells so damn good. I am already onto my third tube and I absolutely love it. It is lightweight and super hydrating.

Scrubba Body Citrus Coffee Scrub* - I'm sure you all remember the review about how much I love this stuff. It doesn't have a really strong coffee smell, instead the citrus makes it really refreshing to use. As you can probably tell from the bag, it's being well used in my shower!

Zoella Bath Latte - This year I fell in love with Zoe's bath and body products. This bath foam, from her Sweet Inspirations range was one of my favourites. It smells amazing, gives so many bubbles and is hydrating on the skin. I'm now onto my third bottle of this too...

Beach Road Body Bars* - These are amazing. I have never been a huge fan of bar soaps, but Beach Road has made me fall back in love. With coconut oil, they are super hydrating and smell so refreshing.

I wasn't going to have this category, but these three products have really transformed both my skin and hair, so I had to.

Clarisonic Mia 2 - I am so glad I splurged during Myer's sale and bought this. My skin has had a huge reduction in breakouts, feels and looks so much better since I started using it. It gets rid of so much make up and grim on my skin that I wouldn't otherwise get.

Dyson Super Sonic* - I still can't believe I won this. It is something I eyed off, but knew I could never have because of the hefty price tag. It makes blow drying easy and enjoyable. I love it!!

Hairstyla* - You might remember from my review of this, how skeptical I was. Since receiving this, my super old GHD has been pushed aside and hasn't come out of the drawer since. The Hairstyla makes it so much easier to straighten and leaves my hair looking straight, sleek, but not flat and boring. This hair straightening brush has found a very welcoming home with me.

There it is, my favourite products from 2016. I can't wait to see what I discover next year! Do you see any of your favourites on here? What are some of your favourites from this year? xx
