Go-To Skincare

Ever since it launched I have been fascinated by Go-To Skincare and intrigued by the quick witted slogans and website. I loved Zoƫ Foster Blake's books so I was pumped when she released her own skincare line. Recently a friend gifted my a few Go-To Skincare products to try to help fix my dry, irritable skin. So it's time to turn the spotlight on Go-To Skincare and see if it is all it seems to be!

First off what is Go-To Skincare?

"Go-To is an Australian skin care company that makes uncomplicated, effective, cruelty-free, natural skin care. The ingredients are pure but powerful; harnessing the benefits of nature to genuinely protect, nourish and strengthen the skin, ensuring it is healthy, happy and glowing."

Properly Clean

Go-To's cleanser surprised me. It was not what I expected it to be. Go-To describes it as: Unlike cleansers that are unnecessarily harsh, foamy or scratchy, or too thick and creamy, leaving behind residue and dissatisfaction, or are too basic for your needs, Properly Clean, Cleans. Properly.

What do I think?

Lets start with the Pros: Foaming cleansers are a really lightweight way to clean your face, nothing heavy. It was light and it was easy to clean off, but did remove all my make up fairly easily. My face felt hydrated and fresh after using the cleanser.

Cons: The surprising part of this cleanser was the scent, it is quite strong. I wasn't expecting it to smell that strong and I can't say I'm a huge fan of it. The scent is a mix of ginger, mandarin and lime, three products I don't enjoy the smell of, which explains why (haha..). I also found the pump could be challenging to use when you were starting to run out of product.

The Verdict: It's a good all round cleanser. It cleans your face without any hype. I can't say I'd repurchase it again, but that is probably just because of the smell. I'm always a fan of cleansers that don't leave your face feeling tight and dry and this cleanser does none of that.

Face Hero

A terrifically powerful, fantastically lightweight face oil that deeply hydrates, soothes, revitalizes and completely protects the face against bad guys trying to make it unhappy. It's your daily skin booster and new best friend.

Pros: Where do I start?! It is a completely natural face oil with 10 potent plant and nut oils. It smells divine (orange blossom and rose gardenia *heavy breathing*), I honestly spent the first five minutes just smelling it. Once I applied it, I was stunned by how quickly it soaks into the skin, leaving my face feeling refreshed and hydrated like it hasn't felt in weeks! I understand where it gets it's name from, it definitely is the hero, I loveee it.

Cons: I have no negative thoughts about this product!

The Verdict: I LOVE IT! I WANT 10 MORE! My skin loves this stuff, may face is so hydrated without being oily. It's amazing.

Very Useful Face Cream

Go-To describes this cream as An ultra-hydrating and lightweight daily moisturiser that defends your skin against premature ageing, and smells pretty alright, too.

Pros: It has a subtle scent, probably the most subtle of all the products I've tried. I once again love the natural ingredients in it and my over the top sensitive (picky) skin enjoyed using it, which was a plus. It left my face hydrated without too much residue.

Cons: It was really thick...If you're not a fan of thick moisturisers (like me) this probably isn't the one for you. In saying that, it doesn't feel thick on the skin.

The Verdict: It's a good, hydrating moisturiser that would work for all skin types. I found it really hydrating and despite it being thick it didn't feel weighty on my face. I'm still undecided about it though.

I'm still so excited about this brand. They are good quality, natural products that do what they say they do. I also love how fun the brand is with their little goodies and fun descriptions. I think that is the aspect about everything that draws me to want to buy more products. I would really like to get some Exfoliating Swipeys and the Pinky Nudey Lips next and another bottle of the Face Hero (because it's amazing!!!)

*Disclaimer: Products were gifted to me from a friend, but all opinions are my own. The Life of Laura is not a make up artist, beauty or skincare expert, therefore any recommendations should be attempted at your own risk.

Have you tried Go-To Skincare? What do you think about it? xx

  1. I reviewed some Go-To about a year ago, I really liked very useful face cream especially for night time, my skin is more on the drier side. I think face hero is pretty high up there as one of my fav face oils!

    1. I loveeee face hero! The face cream is probably a little too thick for my skin at the moment, which is super dry, but it still is a great moisturiser! I think face hero is my favourite out of everything I tried, it fixes all my skin problems instantly!
