Let's start with hydration. I swear that I have the driest lips at the moment, it is so annoying. However, I do have one lip balm that really helps to keep my lips in check and hydrated all the time. What is it I hear you ask? Frank Body Lip Balm. Yes, the Frank Body Lip Balm is currently my holy grail lip balm for when lips are at their driest. It is a thick balm that is so hydrating and nourishing. You only need the tiniest amount for your lips to feel alive again. I use this particularly at night, lathering my lips in it and it helps to reduce and soothe cracked lips overnight. While Frank is known for their coffee based products, don't stress too much if you don't like coffee as this doesn't smell like coffee or taste like coffee. I mean there is a hint, but compared to all their other products it is barely even noticeable. If you want extra smoothness use their Lip Scrub before hand!
Moving on to the combination of hydration and lip colour. Weleda has just released their Tinted Lip Balms* which are absolutely gorgeous. They come in three different colours: Nude*, Rose* and Berry Red*, all of which give a subtle tint to the lips without it being over powering. They are hydrating, with organic shea butter, organic jojoba oil and other precious vegetable oils. I am adoring these at the moment. They are perfect for those no make up, or natural days, where you want it to look like you've put the effort into your lips, but don't actually have to put the effort in. My favourite is Berry Red* which is the perfect mixture of red and plum and leaves your lips looking amazing.
My next essentials are actually, unfortunately, a limited edition collection from MAC that you can no longer get (but if you find it somewhere, get your hands on it. During Christmas time I picked up the Patentpolish Nude Lip Pencils and boy am I glad that I did. They are the next step up from the Weleda lip balms. They are hydrating, but not overly glossy and they give you that little bit of extra colour - not super intense, but not as subtle as Weleda. My favourite shade is It's Really Me which is a gorgeous nude, but all four shades are gorgeous and perfect for every day wear.
Now I am a big fan of lip liners. I swear by them and my lipstick never looks as good if I don't use a liner. Karen Murrell has just released their range of completely natural lip liners and boy are they beautiful! My favourite shade is the Cordovan Natural* which is a gorgeous nude colour (are you seeing a theme here?) which I find works with a number of my different lipsticks, even some that aren't nudes. They are creamy and long lasting too. This will definitely be hard to beat in my books!
Now my favourite liquid lipstick is a nude pink shade (oh look, another one that fits into the pattern!) Now I like creamy, moussey liquid lipstick that are long lasting, but don't dry you lips out ridiculously. I have discovered a new favourite in Tanya Burr's Martha Moo. It is moussey, but long lasting and the most gorgeous colour ever. I can see why it was constantly sold out on FeelUnique for so long, don't worry it's currently in stock though!!
I have saved my absolute favourite for last. As you may have noticed in this list, nudes are a big winner for me, and are about all I really wear to be honest, except when I'm being adventurous! Now, my absolute favourite nude lipstick comes from none other than NARS and my absolute holy grail nude shade is Cruising which is a sheer pink nude that matches my lip colour perfectly. It is hydrating and absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't live without this and no cheap dupe will ever change my mind.
So those are my absolute essential lip products. A bit of a mix of this and that, but all of them are a fundamental part of my make up collection. What are your essential lip products?
Also would you like to see a post of some of other essential lip products of different colours (e.g. my essential reds, plums, pinks)? Let me know in the comments xx

I didn't know frank does a lip gloss!
ReplyDeleteI really need a nude lippy I don't have any nude
They do!! And it is the BOMB! I love. Yes girl, you need a nude lipstick! I couldn't live without mine xx
DeleteLip balm is an absolute MUST for me - my lips would die a 1000 deaths without it! I'm currently using/I have gone back to Carmex (in the pot) as I've developed a bit of irritation recently from the Lanolips 101 Ointment + Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask I've been using unfortunately. Not sure why that's happened but my lips & some of the skin surrounding it began chucking a hissy fit once autumn arrived, so I'm hoping this is just a seasonal change.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more posts about what your other essential lip colours are! I stick to pink a lot, with the occasional use of red. I'd like to get more berry/plum hues into my stash, but I can't justify it when I rarely wear makeup.
Oh my gosh I know right I couldn't live without lip balm. Oh no that sucks about the irritation though, hopefully its nothing too bad and it calms itself down pretty quickly.
DeleteI tend to stick to nude, but do have a couple of other essential colours like reds and plums, so might have to do a post soon! xx
I consider myself a lip junkie yet haven't tried any of those products haha! My faves are from Rimmel London and Colorpop!
ReplyDeleteHahaha it's always the way, you think you're a junkie and then someone blows your mind with new products. Yes I love Rimmel and Colourpop, it was honestly so hard to narrow the list down to something short! xx
DeleteThese look absolutely wonderful! The only one of these i've tried is the Frank lip scrub i'll have to add the others to my list! I would also recommend Zoey Foster Blake's brand - Go To. Her tinted lip balm is amazing!

The Frank lip balm is the bomb! I'm loving it so much xx
DeleteI was just gonna ask you about the scent from the Frank Body Lip Balm. As much as I love the smell of coffee, I don't like the smell of it on my face haha. I must try this, I suffer from the bad case of dry lips through out every season.
ReplyDeleteThere is far too much options to choose from in this post haha.

Yea I am the same, but I don't find it too strong, there is a subtle scent, but it's not too bad. If there is a Mecca Maxima nearby you should go smell it!! xx
