How To Get Clear(ly) Skin

Let's talk about clear skin. This has been something I have struggled with for a long time, as you might have heard me talk about time and time again. I am always on the hunt for products that help me manage my acne and keep it in control. This is how I came to try Clear Out* from Clearly Basics.

Clearly Basics was a brand I'd never heard of until a few months ago when they reached out to see if I wanted to try Clear Out. Clearly is a teledermatology platform allowing users to easily chat with dermatologists using selfies and chat. They specialise in acne and anti ageing skin concerns and have seen some amazing results over the years. Clearly has been systematically working out formulations that are equally as effective as prescription medication, without exceeding over-the-counter limits. They use products that pack a punch and give you results without the hassle of prescriptions. If you have sensitive skin, you can still use the products but it is advised to limit use to every couple of days.

After having some conversations with them about my skin concerns, they sent me Clear Out* to try. Clear Out is a product that is designed to penetrate deep into the pores to help de clog and reduce the appearance red marks and foster healing. Each bottle is designed to last you three months, with daily use.

This formulation uses 8% azelaic acid to reduce inflammation, redness, discolouration and bacterial growth, 2% retinol to flush out dead skin and clear clogs and 0.5% pracaxi oil to reduce the appearance of red marks or scars. The three active ingredients have been carefully balanced to address acne and clogged pores from multiple fronts. I was super excited when I received this, as I had just finished using my Azelaic Acid Booster from Paula's Choice, which I absolutely loved and my skin responded extremely well to. With the added benefit of retinol, I was super excited to see how my skin would respond to this product. It also is paraben, sulfate, fragrance and silicone free, as well as being free from artificial colours to help reduce irritations that can come from synthetic products. All of Clearly’s formulations are non-comedogenic. This formulation is packed fresh into airless bottles to keep our ingredients at their prime and with minimal preservatives.

I have been using this little product for just over a month now and have been so impressed that I had to share about it. Due to the retinol, I only use this serum at night. After cleansing my skin I massage about one and a half pumps into my skin. It is a thick, creamy formula that sinks into the skin easily.  I then follow with any other serums or a moisturiser if needed. I introduced it by initially using it every other night, but I now use it every night. They do say that you can experience a purge when you first introduce this product into your routine. In the first month, this formulation may trigger a purge of dead skin trapped in your pores which can appear as flakes or low level breakouts. I will say that I did experience some low level breakouts, but no extreme purge - certainly no dryness or flakiness.

As I said, I have only been using it for a bit over a month, but I would say that most of the 'purge' is now done, as in the last couple of weeks (following quite a dramatic breakout and some serious blind spots) my skin is looking fantastic. My spots have cleared up and I now only have a few red spots and scarring following on from the spots healing. When I do get spots, they aren't nearly as bad as previous pimples. My skin is looking clear and feeling smooth! I also haven't had any issues with irritation or sensitivity at all. Best of all, I have been using other serums and products (like vitamin c) to help target out skin concerns and have had no issues with the products mixing.

All in all I am so happy that I have found this product and would 120% consider buying another one when I run out. I would also now consider purchasing their Lighten Up product which is designed to help target post acne woes, such as redness and scarring.

If you're curious to find out more or chat to one of their dermatologists, make sure you head over to their website now.
