Everyday Make Up for the Busy Woman

Recently, I have had a number of people request to see what I do for my everyday make up. While I'd love to say I am experimenting with new, exciting products everyday, that's basically the opposite of what I do.

I tend to play it pretty safe during the week, using products that I trust and I know that I don't have to think about during the day. Being a teacher, I don't have time to duck out and check that my foundation isn't caking, or that my mascara isn't running. It's go go go all day. Because of this, I want good products that last all day without fail.

So, to answer all the questions you have been asking, here is my every day make up. (Yes, occasionally I will mix it up and throw something different in, but these are the products that I use more often than not).

To me, it's 'all about that base, bout that base' (cue Meghan Trainor). Some days I might forget the bronzer and the blush, but the base is something I never go without. Because I am quite self conscious of my skin and my blemishes and scarring, the base is something I need to get right every day to feel comfortable and confident. The three base products in this post are my trusted, daily products that I know will make my skin look AMAZING day in and day out.

Clinique Even Better Glow

My go-to daily foundation is the Clinique Even Better Glow. It is a lightweight, undetectable and glowy coverage. It is a 'light reflecting' foundation which has a light to medium coverage, that is designed to give you that barely-there finish. It also contains vitamin C to brighten and even skin tone over time and broad spectrum SPF to prevent the formation of dark spots.

To describe how much I love this foundation - I am already onto my third bottle of it. It is one of the best foundations for dry skin that I have ever used and one of the best lasting glowy foundations I have ever used. I wear it almost daily because it is one of those foundations, particularly through winter, that I can trust will look good all day long. I apply it either with a sponge or a brush and away I go. You can read more about the Even Better Glow in my review here.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer

This was a concealer I thought I wouldn't love, but it has become a quick favourite. I was worried it would be too matte on the skin, but it's honestly not, and much like the Nars Creamy Concealer it is a magic cream that just conceals everything. This is my go-to concealer for spots, redness AND dark under eye circles. I apply with my finger and away I go. I often chuck this in my handbag as well, because it is the best for a quick touch up throughout the day. It is formulated with collagen-boosting peptides, moisture-replenishing hyaluronic acid to plump and antioxidant-rich vitamins A, C and E so it doesn't dry the skin out throughout the day either.

YSL Touche Èclat Radiant Touch

For my under eyes, sometimes after popping on some Nars, sometimes by itself, I will pop some of the YSL Touche Èclat under my eyes. It is designed to capture the light, banishing signs of fatigue and fading out imperfections and it does exactly that for me. While I would say it doesn't have the fullest coverage (which is why I use it in conjunction with Nars), it is great for dry, dull and dark under eyes to just brighten them and freshen them up as well.

The next necessities that I can go without are brows and eyes. I feel naked if my brows and eyes are not done. Sure, I will not go heavy on them during the week and tailor it however I need to, but I always have something on my eyes and brows during the week.

Poni Cosmetics Brow Magic

Now if you saw my recent brow post, you would remember me raving about the Poni Cosmetics Brow Magic. It is a thin, universal colour, brow pencil that is just amazing. You can use it to do beautiful, defined brows or natural, fluffy brows. It is perfect for beginners or those more talented at brows. It is a little wonder pencil and I haven't used a brow pen that has compared since.

Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Fibre Gel

Another product that I discussed in my recent brow post and another favourite of mine. Whether I have had time to do my brows with the Poni Cosmetics Brow Magic, or I have run completely out of time and just need something to make my brows stay in place, this gel is my go-to. It is perfect for setting or shaping brows and the best part is that it has fibres in it to help your brows look fuller and thicker! Basically, everything you need.

Poni Cosmetics White Knight Mascara*

This is another staple for me. I have gone through three tubes in the past couple of years (in between testing out other mascaras) and it is the one I ALWAYS come back to. It is a tubing mascara, so it doesn't smudge and doesn't run when it gets wet. Plus, you only need a small amount of water to remove it easily at the end of the day. I constantly battle with mascaras smudging under my eyes (like real bad) and if I am wearing anything other than Poni I worry that I am looking like a panda all day. Which let's be real - is not something I have time to worry about. I don't know what I would do on a day to day basis without this mascara.

Onto the other face products. These are the steps that I occasionally don't do, if I am in a hurry to get out the door, but they are also steps that can make a look!

Mecca Max Sunlit Skin Bronzing Powder

It's affordable and it's so good. I am still using the mini that I got for free when Mecca Max got released (I haven't touched my full size yet) and I love it. I have the shade medium, which (surprisingly) is not too dark for me. It is just the perfect bronze or contour shade. It has a slight shimmer in it, but isn't something noticeable, just helps add to that overall luminous complexion.

Pixi Palette Chloette*

I have a lot of blushes, but the one I reach for almost every day is dark pink (bottom blush) on the Pixi Palette Chloette. It's a beautiful shade that gives your cheeks a beautiful rosy glow without looking too intense. It, much like the Mecca Max bronzer, has a slight shimmer, but isn't glowy like a highlighter. Which I like!

Poni Cosmetics Unicorn Champagne Ombre Highlighter*

If I have time and if I can be bothered, I will pop a little bit of highlighter on. I love the Poni Cosmetics highlighter because it's not super intense, but it leaves your skin looking glowing and luminous. It isn't chunky or glittery and is everything that I want in an every day highlighter.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick

Now most days I go without lipstick, but if I am feeling a bit flat or that my skin just needs an extra little pick me up, this is the lipstick I choose. The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick is probably my favourite lipstick EVER. It is like the perfect rosy nude shade, the perfect satin finish (though it's from the matte collection) and just the most beautiful lipstick ever. I have never finished a lipstick before in my life, but I am very close to finishing this one and there is a good reason for it.

I feel like it seems like a long list now that it's down on paper, but my daily routine doesn't seem very long to me. It only takes me about 15 minutes to do my make up each day and  these products make it so effortless. What are the products you use on a daily basis that you can trust through anything?
