What I've Been Reading : May Edition

Can you believe it? Another month of 2018 has gone by and we are another step closer to Christmas. Where is the year going?! With another month gone, it's time for another recap of books that I've been reading. Let's recap May:
Unlike last month, I feel like I read a lot. In saying that I only read four books, but I absolutely loved them and I am already half way through another one that I am absolutely loving.

The Perfect Girlfriend | Karen Hamilton

Juliette loves Nate. But they broke up. Nate wanted a break. But Juliette didn’t. Will Juliette get what she wants?

When Nate breaks up with Juliette, she becomes a flight attendant on the same airline that Nate is a pilot for. She does everything she can to get close to him. What is the fascination with Nate? Why him? Why not move on? Great questions to ask, but questions you won’t get answered until the end.

So well written, with a plot twist that I did not expect. The ending surprised me, though now I kind of want (need) to know what happens next. Sequel?!

The Secret History of Us | Jessi Kirby

When Olivia is involved in a car accident and loses any memory from the last few years, she wakes up feeling very lost and unsure. She has a boyfriend she can’t remember, she’s lost friends she thought she was close with and apparently doesn’t enjoy photography anymore. As Paige, her best friend, tries to help put the pieces of her life back together and help her fall in love with Matt again, Olivia begins to feel like nothing is quite as it should be.

But what about the mysterious boy who pulled her from the lake? Could he hold the answers to everything?

So well written - easy to read and kept me guessing. Absolutely loved this book!

Whisper | Lynette Noni

For two years, “Jane Doe” has been trapped in Lengard, a facility for extraordinary people. Each day in the facility she goes through test after test. One day the test stops and she finds out the reason that her words have such a powerful effect on the world. But is Lengard as pure as it seems?

This book is quite different to any of the books I’ve been reading recently. A sci-fi/fantasy type book, not my usual cup of tea, but I really enjoyed it. I did find some sections had a few too many details and there were attempts to relate it to real world events that seemed unnecessary, but all in all I loved it. The plot twist half way through?! Amazing. I loved that little details about “Jane Doe” came out of the woodwork through the book. And the cliffhanger at the end has me hooked.

Final Girls | Riley Sager

Quincy is a final girl. She is a survivor. She was the lone survivor of a brutal massacre in Pine Cottage where all of her friends were killed. Only, she can’t remember any of it. She remembers the moment before, walking away from her best friend. And the moment after, as she runs in to the arms of the cop there to rescue her. When another “final girl” arrives on her doorstep, her whole understanding of the event is upturned. Is it all as it seems?

I absolutely loved this book! It was dark and had twists and turns I didn’t expect. While I was suspicious of Sam’s arrival, I didn’t expect what came out of it. Would definitely recommend!
