The Secret to Long Lasting Make Up

We all want the secret to make up lasting all day long. If it's a long day at work, you don't want to have to worry about touching up your make up throughout the day. Long lasting make up is something I have always struggled with, but I think I might have found my answer.
Having drier skin, I have barely ever used a setting powder. I always find that they just cling to my dry patches and make my skin look flat, dull and just so damn dry. I have, since then, avoided them like the plague. However, when I saw the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder, with it's gorgeous, sleek packaging, I couldn't resist. I honestly don't know what it was about this little tub, but it caught my eye and I had to try it.

The magic of Veil transformed into an ultra-refined loose powder designed to give skin a naturally flawless finish. This finely-milled, weightless powder is formulated with soft-focus light-reflecting particles to instantly blur imperfections and minimize the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles for effortlessly smooth skin. The translucent formula can be used on all skin tones for an invisible, natural skin finish.

Essentially, it is a setting powder, designed to leave your skin looking flawless. It claims to blur pores, fine lines and wrinkles, giving you that airbrushed finish. The gorgeous packaging and gold sifter, is designed to give you the perfect amount of powder, without mess. The formulation itself is talc free and infused with diamond powder for the most refined light refraction without any flashback. It is also completely translucent, to create an invisible finish, perfect for all skin tones.

Let's start with the packaging. I love it. Not only does it look luxe and gorgeous, but I have found it to be really practical. I was worried that the powder would come loose when you screw the lid on and go everywhere (lord knows we all have a horror story of opening a powder container and having product go EVERYWHERE), but the cap has a funnel type design on the inside that stops excess powder coming out while closed. When I go to use it, I simply turn the jar over, give it one or two heavy taps and then open. I would agree with their claim that it does dispense the perfect amount - I have never had to get more out after the initial tap.

When I apply I typically start with my undereyes and T-Zone. I have been using the Real Techniques Setting Brush to apply in these areas. It is small enough to get in and apply a decent amount to bake the under eyes. I then use a big fluffy brush to apply the powder to the rest of my face. Hourglass has also released a double ended brush, the Veil Powder Brush, to apply the setting powder. It looks beautiful and soft and has a smaller end for under your eyes and a bigger end for the rest of your face. At $93, it's a pricey brush though and I am not a huge fan of double ended brushes.

I have been wearing this setting powder every day for a couple of weeks now and I am kind of obsessed. Unlike other setting powders I have used, it doesn't make my skin look flat or dry. It gives my skin this soft, flawless look and even smooth on the skin. I have noticed my make up has been lasting longer and looking better. I enjoy that my luminous foundations still look luminous, but no longer transfers. While at $67, it's a pricey setting powder, it is also the best one I have used. I like that it sets my make up and stops transfer, but doesn't leave me looking flat or dull. I would even say that it helps my skin looking luminous, but not oily. While I can't comment on how this would go on oily skin, it has worked extremely well on my normal/dry skin. This one gets a big tick from me!

Have you tried the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder yet? What are your thoughts on it? Let me know in the comments now xx
