The Wedding Files: The Bridesmaid Emergency Kit

I really struggled in deciding what to get my bridesmaids for their little thank you gift. I wanted to a Daily Edited clutch, then I wanted to do jewellery and in the end I had no idea. I didn't have a big budget to spend on them. What I came up with was an adaptation of the 'Bridesmaid Emergency Kit'.

I originally got the idea for a Bridesmaid Emergency Kit when I began looking for gift for them. Typically they were small kits that included some bobby pins, band aids and pain killers. I wanted to take it to the next level and create a kit that had everything my bridesmaids could possibly need during the day, plus a few other celebratory items.

The Bridesmaid Emergency Kit

1. Personalised Water Bottle : Keeping hydrated is very important. It was especially important for me on my wedding day because it would help my skin look better and would help with the alcohol we would more then likely consume later on that day. I am all about trying to be sustainable and didn't want to just buy a box of disposable water bottles. So instead, I created a personalised water bottle that they could use throughout the day and (hopefully) after the day as well. To do this, I bought some water bottles from Kmart and removed the silicone cover (and gave them a good clean of course). I then bought some DIY vinyl copper name labels from MellaandMoi on Etsy, which I then attached to each water bottle. Very happy with the result!

2. Tissues : There were going to be a lot of tear throughout the day, so tissues were going to be an absolute necessity for the day, even if it was just to mop up my tears.

3. Bandaids : Bandaids are always a must have. In case you end up with a cut, or a blister or anything, it is always safe to have a stash somewhere. I have plastic ones and material ones in the girls bags.

4. Blister pads : Linked to the last one, blisters are very common on wedding days and I wanted to be prepared to be comfortable in my shoes all day long (and the girls as well).

5. Bobby Pins : Because you can never be without bobby pins! Our hair dresser did an amazing job on our hair, but you never know what a bit of erratic dancing is going to do to your do and you don't want to be caught out!

6. Face Wipes Let's be real, you don't want to put in all the effort to remove your make up at the end of a long day, but it's important to still remove it. What's the easiest way to do that? Face wipes of course. I just got a Swissper 5 Pack for them, enough to get your skin clean at the end of the night.

7. Lip Balm : We are having an autumn winter and autumn is typically quite cool in winter. Cold weather leads to dry lips. Dry lips lead to lipstick not wearing as well. I got the girls a Nivea Care and Colour in the shade Rosé of course, because then if they don't want to retouch with lipstick later in the night they can wear the lip balm instead.

8. Hand Cream : Again, another necessity in winter! Dry hands is a common thing in winter and I didn't want the girls to be with dry hands. I got them mini Crabtree & Evelyn hand creams in a scent I thought they would like best.

9. Hand Sanitiser : To me, hand sanitiser is another necessity and I picked up one of my favourites for my bridesmaids - the Soap & Glory Hand Maid.
10. Eye Mask : Skin prep is very important before the make up, especially when you are wearing full coverage make up for a long day. I bought each of the girls, my mother and myself a Patchology FlashPatch Rejuvenating Eye Gels to wear before we get our make up done. They are the best - hydrating, comfortable to wear and you don't need to wear them long for your skin to look and feel hydrated.

11. Face Mask : I gave each of the girls a face mask, not necessarily for before their make up, but for post wedding skin recovery. Something to rehydrate and rejuvenate their skin. Again I tailored these to what I thought their skin would appreciate the most, with a mix of Mizon Enjoy Vital-Up Time Watery Moisture Mask, Mizon Enjoy Vital-Up Time Soothing Mask and Patchology Hydrate FlashMasque between them.

12. Face Mist : To refresh the skin throughout the day. Again, because wearing heavy make up for a long day can leave the skin feeling tired and stressed. I got each of them a safe bet - the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater.

13. Mirror : For touch ups throughout the day of course! This is something I'd discussed with the girls, having time to touch up throughout the day and someone had mentioned that mirrors would be important for this. Well I got them the best ones! Personalised Say It With Polish Mirrors that had their names on it, so they could keep them and use them after the day.

14. Wine! : Each bridesmaid had a mini bottle of wine in their box as well, because how elsedo we celebrate if we don't have wine! I did have one bridesmaid who was pregnant and she got a delicious bag of Haigs chocolate instead.

15. Cookies : I love cookies and I thought it would be a nice little treat for the day, so I decided to get one for each of them with a design that suited them in some way. I got them each a Roseberry St Bakehouse cookie, which are SOOO delicious!

16. Silk Robes : So many people suggested getting these as a gift and I already had them in mind, so I bought some floral ones for the girls! Again, as I didn't have the budget to get the nicest ones in the world (aka the ones I really wanted) I went a little cheaper and got some from eBay. The budget friendly ones are actually beautiful and soft and I loved them. I went for a blue colour for the girls and white for me.

17. Coat hangers : I knew I wanted to do the cute personalised coat hangers, but I didn't want to do those cheap over done ones that every one has (no offence if you had those and loved them). I wanted something unique and authentic. I found the most beautiful ones on Etsy from WhiteLaneDesigns and I absolutely adore them. If you are looking for wedding coat hangers, 120% buy these ones! They are AMAZING!

While I didn't get them one big thing, I loved what I ended up putting together for them and I thought it represented me well and were practical things that they could use again after the day (rather then me buying them a piece of jewellery they hated and never wore again).
