Pixi Beauty : MatteLast Liquid Lip

When one of your favourite brands releases a new liquid lipstick range with the most beautiful range of nudes, you can't help but get excited! Designed to be extremely long wearing & comfortable, have Pixi Beauty nailed liquid lipsticks?!

Pixi Beauty is a UK based beauty brand founded by Petra Strand, makeup artist & product developer. Passionate about skincare, Petra creates innovative formulations that are infused with botanicals and beneficial ingredients. Petra has real-world experience as a busy working mother of four, therefore Pixi is truly about multitasking, flaw-fixing, youth-enhancing products for women on-the-go with no time to spare. Best known for their Glow Tonic, an exfoliating facial toner with 5% glycolic acid, they are now taking the world by storm. I haven't tried anything from Pixi that I haven't liked, so when these liquid lipsticks rocked up on my doorstep, I was SUPER excited.

The new MatteLast Liquid Lip are apart of Petra's new Rose Essence Collection, which utilises the beautifying benefits of Rose Hip and Rose Flower Oils, Rose Extract and Rose Water. They are designed to give full colour pay off with just one swipe, while still being hydrating, quick drying and long lasting. There are currently six shades in the collection, all nude and pink shades, considered universally flattering and wearable. I received five of them - Au Naturelle, Matte Beige, Pastel Petal, Really Rose and Evening Rose. There is also the shade Prettiest Pink, which will not be swatched in this post.

Let's start with the packaging. They come in cute little square tubes, which I really like. For selfish reasons of course. I like that they are small and square because they fit in my lipstick holders, unlike my other liquid lipsticks which are all too tall. They have a unique applicator, titled the 'Pixi Petal' applicator, designed to provide an even and precise application. They do, however, remind me of the Smashbox liquid lipstick applicators. I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all because I love the Smashbox applicator and the Pixi applicator. I have actually found the petal shape much easier to apply the lipstick.

To apply the lipstick it is recommended that you prep your lips first by exfoliating so that they are smooth, and then to condition. I typically do this with any liquid lipstick anyway because I get the driest lips. However when I first tested these out I just used my Mac Prep+Prime Lip Primer and then applied the lipstick and had no issue at all. To get the sharpest line I will use a liner both before and after applying. I find going in after applying the lipstick helps to neaten up any spots that I messed up and just gives it a super sharp finish.

I went off liquid lipsticks in 2017. I just got sick of them drying my lips out to no end and being a pain to apply. Pixi has won me over again though. In one swipe you end up with a highly pigmented colour that is super comfortable. It applies creamy, but quickly sets to a soft matte. What I was most impressed about was that as it set, my lips continued to feel hydrated. I tested these out on a super hot day, running some errands, and was really impressed. No matter how much water I drank, or food I ate, the lipstick barely budged. I did notice that there was some spots that were wearing off in the centre of my lip, where I tend to bite my lip, but there wasn't that noticeable flaky/cracked finish that you generally get at the end of the day after wearing liquid lipsticks. They were just comfortable all day.

Now for what you have all been asking for...the swatches! These swatches are two swipes of the lipstick.

All in all I honestly can't find anything negative to say about these lipsticks. The shades are gorgeous, they are comfortable, long lasting and super easy apply. Everything that I want in a liquid lipstick. These are very quickly becoming my favourite liquid lipstick.

Have you tried anything from Pixi before? I need some recommendations of what to try next! xx
