First Impressions with Rimmel London

Rimmel London Wonder'Fully Mascara

Rimmel London has been absolutely killing it with their releases this year. October and November has continued to bring a lot of new products for them. It's been a while since I've talked about Rimmel and their releases and I had a box full of newbies from them that I was yet to try, so I thought why not do a full face of first impressions.

Let's start with the base. Rimmel London has just released their brand new Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation*. A long-wearing and lightweight skin perfecting foundation with medium coverage. It is designed to be a breathable foundation that lasts for 25 hours.

The foundation comes in seven different shades. Not the most comprehensive shade range, but not too bad for a drugstore range. I have to say the light shade, Light Porcelain 010, is a really good light shade. I actually found that it was probably a tiny bit too light and cool for me. The coverage is definitely a light, buildable to medium. It definitely won't give you the full, flawless coverage that some other foundations have, however, it is fantastic is you prefer that lighter coverage which enhances your natural features and even out your skin tone. It has quite a glowy finish, which is perfect for the warmer weather if you ask me. As for the applicator, omg I love it! It is essentially a giant doe applicator like you would see in lipgloss and concealers. It makes it easy to apply the foundation to your face with out a mess. As for the long wearing, I can't say that it lasts for 25 hours. I had the foundation on for about 7 hour on a fairly easy and relaxed day and I found it went patchy on my chin, around my nose and on my forehead.

Next was the brand new Lasting Finish Breathable Concealer*. Much like the foundation, it is a long-lasting breathable concealer with medium coverage which helps to conceal imperfections. With it’s soft touch, the cushion applicator allows for perfect blendability and touch-ups on the go.I love the applicator on this as well, however I don't use the sponge to blend my concealer. I prefer to use my own sponge to blend it in as I get a better finish. It is a really lovely, creamy consistency a little thicker then the foundation, but it blends in really well. Much like the foundation it has a light to medium coverage, but is really hydrating and doesn't go cakey on the skin through the day. I have to say I like this one a lot more then the foundation. My only dislike is that it does set in the cracks under the eyes and cake. I don't set my concealer or foundation any more though, so this might be why.

As for the eyes, there have been a number of really exciting releases from the last month.  First off there was the Magnif'eyes Eyeshadow Palettes*. They come in four different shade options - Smoke Edition, with a mix of greys, blues and dark cool shades; Blush Edition, with a mix of gorgeous pink shades; Nude Edition, with a mix of gold and browns; and the Colour Edition, with a mix of some bright colours including blue, purple, green and white. I have to say I have been extremely impressed with the pigmentation and colour pay off that these palettes have. My only pet peeve about these is that the shades don't last that well on the eyes. As you can sort of see in the photo below, come the end of the day the colours aren't as pigmented and have all sort of blended together. I'd say they are great for short events, but not for long days.

The Wonder Wing Eyeliner* is the latest eyeliner release from Rimmel and I have to say it's probably my favourite so far. Designed to line, stamp and wing! This is one that I didn't wear on this first impressions look, but I have worn before. The stamp makes it sooo much easier to get a sharp winged look. Take that from someone who sucks at doing winged liner. I do find it slightly harder to apply to the left eye, but I think that is purely because I just am never as good at doing my left eye. But this liner is a total winner for me!

The final product I want to talk about today is the Wonder'Fully Real Mascara*. It is a
lash-enhancing mascara for stunning length and gorgeous volume. It's the false-lash look effect that looks natural. It has plastic bristles, which I don't usually love, but somehow they just work for this mascara. It is quite a thin wand, but gives amazing length to your lashes. You can build the formula up as well to create volume too. My only pet peeve, which is one I have with many Rimmel mascara's is that it smudges under the eye. As you can see in the end of the day image, my under eyes are a little black.

For affordable products, I am quite impressed with all of these. My favourite products are definitely the eye products (eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara). I am definitely going to be using that eyeliner more and more! So black and so easy to create a nice wing.

Have you tried any of the new Rimmel releases? I'd love to hear what your favourite is! xx
