Guinot Hydradermie Facial

Guinot Acnilogic

I was recently introduced to another beautiful French skincare brand and earlier this week I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Canvas Essential Therapy when I was up in Sydney to try out a facial from them!

Guinot is a skincare brand founded in France over forty years ago. The collection of skincare products, known throughout the world as "Guinot Paris", began as a focused approach to treating the skin. It is now known as legendary Hydradermie treatment. Today Guinot has thousands of salons around the world, as well as a wide variety of beauty products you can use in the comfort of your own home. These cover the categories of face, body and sun. Fundamental to this is the Guinot creed which points out that every person's skin is different and is exposed to different environmental and stressful conditions at different times. It is the synergy of professional services and skincare products that results in beautiful skin, for which Guinot Paris is renowned.

First I want to talk about the clinic where I had my facial, because it was so beautiful! Hidden in the streets of Rozelle, Sydney, Canvas Essential Therapy is a gorgeous little spa where you can get the most luxurious and relaxing treatment. They have a combined total of over 90 years experience to know how to treat your concerns and give you the best experience possible. Jo, who treated my while I was there, was so extremely lovely and took me through each step, ensuring that there were no issues throughout the treatment. She also took the time to find out my skin concerns and talk through how the treatment would help with my issues as well. As much as I enjoy the relaxing environment of facials, I want to know what is happening and what the benefits are. I also want to know I am in a comfortable environment where if I am having issues or concerns with sensitivity I can speak up, and this is exactly the environment Jo created for me.

Guinot Hydradermie Facial

The treatment I had while I was at Canvas was a Guinot Hydradermie Facial*. It is an approximately 55 minute treatment, designed to leave your skin feeler firmer and rejuvenated. It's basically a two phase (or step) treatment. First Jo cleansed my facial in two steps. This was to remove the little bit of tinted moisturiser I had on, so she could get a really good look at my skin. Then there was a gentle exfoliation that barely felt like an exfoliation at all. Following this we moved into the main part of the facial.

Both steps use a serious of firming gels and serum to treat your skin, but each phase used a slightly different process. These were going to work well for me to help with my dry skin (which is always in need of more hydration) but by using gels, it won't weigh down or clog my pores, producing more pimples. It will also help with some of the inflammation my spots had at the time. Step one of the two phase process involved rollers and galvanic current to help products get into the deeper layers of your skin. The rollers also have smaller rollers on the edge to get into the small surfaces around your nose and eyes. It was such a cooling and relaxing experience to have these roll over your face for 10 or so minutes. It barely felt like there was any pressure, it was just like a really lovely face massage!

Following this, the gel is removed and another layer is applied, this time with an oxygenating cream over the top. Then a 'buzzing' device (as Jo described it to me) uses high frequencies to massage this over my face, leaving your skin feeling smooth. While you could hear and feel the buzzing, it was still kind of relaxing to have it moving across your face.

Jo then followed this my applying a mask. First over my blemishes she applied a clay treatment as a spot treatment - literally just a dot on each spot. Over the top of my whole face and neck she applied a hydrating mask to help give my skin that extra boost of moisture. I also had two cotton pads placed over my eyes (I assume they were soaked in a eye mask of sorts because my eyes felt so refreshed afterwards). As the mask had to stay on for about 10 minutes, Jo gave me the most amazing head massage. I never knew I could be so relaxed with someone brushing my hair, but man I could have laid there all day just enjoying that massage!

To finish everything off Jo applied a small amount of Acnilogic* over my T-Zone focussing on my blemishes and finished with some Hydrazone* moisturiser. Both products I was able to take home and will be trying out for the next few weeks as well, which I am so excited about!

Guinot Hydrazone

I have been really impressed with how my skin has felt and looked since. Immediately after the treatment my face and neck (can't forget about the neck!) felt so soft and refreshed. I didn't get a close up look at my skin until later in the day, but from sensation alone I could tell my skin was looking good. Since the treatment my skin has just looked incredible (aside from the few spots that are finally starting to recede). I don't exactly know how to explain it, but the texture of my skin looks different. It actually looks soft and hydrate. Some could say it almost looks glowy! I think having this facial done regularly would have a huge impact on your skin and would leave you with incredible results! I just wish there was somewhere in Canberra that did these now...

All in all it was such a wonderful experience. I felt relaxed and revitalised and my skin just felt heavenly. I can't wait to stop by again next time I am in Sydney!
