The Face Mask Files || Ella Baché Intensive Extreme Regeneration Mask

5:55 am

It's time for another face mask review!! You know how much I love my face masks, so I can never leave it too long between my face mask reviews. Under the microscope today is the new Ella Baché Intensive Extreme Regeneration Mask* (quite a mouthful!).

For those of you who have never heard of Ella Baché before, it is a skincare company started by Madame Baché in Paris, 1936, a revolutionary cosmetic chemist who believed just as we are genetically different, the same holds true of our skin. They have a philosophy of personalised skincare, based on the belief 'because no two skins are alike'. They now provide skin diagnosis and personalised skin solutions so you get exactly what your skin needs to restore it to perfection. They have over 150 independently owned salons and can also be found in 35 David Jones stores. Every employee you meet in these stores is a trained Ella Baché Skin Therapist, and carries on the Madame Baché philosophy into the future.

Now onto the mask! Ella Baché’s NEW Intensive Extreme Regeneration Mask overs 7 positive skincare actions all in one mask - cooling, rehydrating, plumping, smoothing, softening, anti ageing and protection with antioxidant properties. This new and improved mask has increased it's active ingredients by 13%, making it even more concentrated for a greater result. It is your SOS for radiant looking skin.

The Intensive Extreme Regeneration Mask contains the following ingredients:
  • Aloe Vera - to moisturise, re-hydrate and soothe the skin.
  • Apple Skin Extract - which is a powerful source of antioxidant, for anti-ageing benefits.
  • Hyaluronic Acid -  which is great for intense skin hydration.
  • Native Marine Collagen - designed to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and for micro skin relief.
  • Polarised Thermal Water Liposomes - which allow ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin for maximum benefit and hydration.
Each box comes with two masks, separately packaged. I have now used both, I used one each week for the past two weeks. I always cleanse my skin before applying a mask, and occasionally exfoliate beforehand as well, as I find that usually helps to get maximum benefits from the mask, into my skin. Then you simply take out the sheet mask, and unfold it. There are three layers to the mask - a gauze, the mask itself and blue protective layer. First you remove the cause from one side. Then you place the mask on your face, pressing gently into the facial contours before removing the blue protective layer. Then smooth over the face, ensure it is sticking nicely to the skin. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove and discard the mask. DON'T rinse your face after removing, but DO squeeze out left over serum from the sachet and massage it into your skin. I personally like to leave my skin like that for 30 minutes to an hour before applying any other skincare over the top, to ensure I get the best benefit from it.

The Verdict?

I'm a big fan. Even after the first use I was impressed. It is a very thick sheet mask, but I found it actually stuck to my face really well. I have used a lot of sheet masks that just slide around and don't sit right, but this one definitely did. I noticed after about 5 minutes that the mask was quite cool and could feel my skin being refreshed. At about the 15 minute mark, the mask started to feel a little bit dry and less sticky in places, so I knew it was probably time to remove it. What I really liked was that my face didn't feel like it was dripping wet when I removed the mask. My skin was basically dry after a minute or two after removal. The serum just soaked straight into my skin, but didn't leave my skin feeling dry, just hydrated and soft to touch. I definitely feel like my skin was firmer around my eyes and overall, it just felt hydrated and refreshed. For a treatment that is as easy as applying for 20 minutes, I am really impressed. I think it will definitely be a winner throughout winter when my skin gets stressed and dry. At $78 for a box of two, it is pricey and will probably be a luxury buy every so often, rather than a regular face mask, but I will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

You can pick the Intensive Extreme Regeneration Mask from the Ella Baché Website or from David Jones.

Have you tried the Ella Baché mask? What are your favourite masks for hydration through the colder weather?
