Places to Eat Canberra || Braddon

7:00 am

Are you thinking of visiting Canberra? Or already living in Canberra and looking for some good places to eat? Well I have decided to share some of my favourite places to grab a bite to eat around Canberra. In the spotlight today is the area of Braddon, which has is known for it's hipster, trendy cafes and restaurants. It is actually one of my favourite places to grab a bit to eat in Canberra!

Breakfast/Lunch

There are a number of cool cafes to grab a coffee and some breakfast or lunch. My current favourite is RYE Cafe and Bar which is all about simple, fresh and delicious food. Get a delicious coffee (look I can't vouch for that as a non-coffee drinker, but Mr TLOL loves it!) and a fresh lunch. They have take away salads and sandwiches for lunch, or a fresh pastry for that mid morning snack. I love vibe and decor as well, which also boasts the simple ideals, with wood, wood and more wood.

This next one is actually a favourite of Mr TLOL (aka fiancé if you don't know who that is..). The name 'Elemental' reflects our commitment to provide Canberrans with delicious food from basic, unprocessed, and local ingredients. Dave describes it fairly simply, 'delicious healthy food, fun variety, perfect coffee'. It's cute and quirky and is everything that Braddon encompasses.

Dinner

So you want to go out for an evening bite to eat, or maybe an evening cocktail? Well Braddon is definitely the place to be for that, with a number of evening drink and food options. Hopscotch is one of my favourite places to grab a casual bite to eat. With one of the largest spaces in Braddon, and boasting an expansive beer garden, complete with outdoor spit, Hopscotch has already become a fixture for great meals and good times in Canberra’s north. It is simple, but does delicious, good quality pub food, great drinks and has such a fun atmosphere. Also if you're around on Tuesday's, check out Tranny Bingo! I am yet to check out Tranny Bingo, but I will be heading to one in the next month and I can't wait!

My next recommendation is actually right next door. Tipsy Bull is one of the newest editions to Londsale St and will definitely become a favourite of mine. Fancy food with a casual atmosphere - they say to not expect anything too posh, just good times and good food. Now if you are a G&T fan, you must visit Tipsy Bull for a de constructed Gin and Tonic - choose from a variety of Gin's and Tonic's, any added extras like lime or lemon, and create your very own G&T right at the table. They offer a number of share plates, that might seem small but are actually very filling and oh so delicious! Also the service is amazing, we felt like one of the family while we were there!

Dessert

Look, dessert is my favourite meal, so I definitely had to include a category dedicated to dessert. My favourite place in Braddon, if not Canberra, to cater to my sweet tooth is Frugii Dessert Laboratory. They are the place to visit post dinner to get the most delicious dessert. From ice cream (their Dark Chocolate ice cream is my absolute favourite) to delicious sweet treats and G&T or Champagne Ice Blocks. If you're vegan or gluten free, than don't stress because they have options for everyone. They also have just introduced Durian Ice Cream on a stick covered with a Lychee Gel. Durian is a favourite in south-east Asia, is renowned for its strong odour, so Mr Frugii has spent much time trying to workout how to create a delicious ice cream, without that odour. It sounds super interesting, I'm yet to try it but it is on the list! Any way, long story short if you only have time to visit one place in Braddon, make it Frugii!

So there it is, my top eats for Braddon! I am planning on doing a few more of these, so if you have any requests for suburbs or places you've been wondering about, do let me know and I will try to include them in future posts!!

*DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post, I was not paid by any of these places to advertise their stores, I just like food and honestly love all of these places so had to share the love.
