BUA Turns 2!

8:00 am

In my 2017 goals I said that I wanted to attend some events this year. Well guess what!! I have just attended my first event and had a ball of fun! So naturally I have to now share the whole experience with you guys.

The event I attended was actually the Bloggers United Australia 2nd Birthday Celebration at Lush in QVB, Sydney. What better way to kick off attending blogging events than going to a birthday party?! Nothing, I say. When I received my invite, there was no question about whether I could go or not, I HAD to make it work somehow, and it just so conveniently fell on a long weekend in Canberra, so what better weekend to pop up to Sydney than this.

First things first, for those of you who have never heard of Bloggers United, let me tell you a bit about it. Founded by two amazing bloggers - Jasmine from Sweetaholic Beauty and Nikita from NJT Blogger - it is a way of connecting all the bloggers around Australia.

Australia has one of the largest and strongest blogging communities in the world. From bloggers and vloggers to social media gurus, we’re hoping to bring all of these fabulous people together to create a supporting and exciting community. But we’re not just about one event. We’re about all year round, never ending, fully supportive, hands on community.
I still remember when I came across BUA last year and just went 'I have to be apart of this community. I must attend there events...' It just looked like the most supportive and fun blogging community to be apart of, and luckily it was all for Australian bloggers. So off to Lush we went to celebrate BUA turning 2! Can you imagine a better place to have a birthday party? I think not. This years focus was all about skincare to leave your skin feeling radiant, gorgeous and glowing.

One of my favourite parts of the event was probably getting to make our very own face masks! I chose to make the Catastrophe Cosmetic* mask, as it was something I wouldn't normally go for.  Being apart of this experience made me love Lush even more. Like seriously, how many stores can you go to and actually MAKE the product you are taking home from scratch in a couple of minutes. Very few... It's one of the things that makes Lush so unique, and one of the major reason I am a major Lushie - everything is so natural, so organic and just so good for your skin!

It was also really interesting having a look at some of the Lush make up, which I have never tried before. The lovely staff in store swatched everything on us, and it was all so incredibly pigmented. The eyeliners and lipsticks, in particular, were really long lasting and were all so bright! I was particularly excited about Feeling Younger, a radiant skin tint, that is honestly the most incredible highlighter I have ever witnessed. Unfortunately, they had none in stock, so of course I wouldn't take it home...but I need to get my hands on that immediately (DAMNIT IT'S SOLD OUT ONLINE TOO). I also kind of want to try their Colour Supplements now, because they look like they'd be a really nice way foundation/BB cream, type product, for no-make up days.

Now, just talking in general, what was definitely the absolute BEST part about the whole event was actually meeting amazing bloggers who I have been following since I started, and who have been supporting me for a long time, as well as a few brand new faces. It was so nice to actually put real people to the Instagram handles I see everyday. It was also so exciting to have people actually go 'OMG you're Laura from The Life of Laura!" and be excited to see and meet me as well. It's definitely not something I ever imagined, I definitely never imagined I would be apart of such an amazing, supportive community and that I would one day get to meet some of them. So, without a doubt, that was definitely the best part.

But no birthday party is complete without cake, or a goodie bag and BUA and Lush did not disappoint on that front. A delicious chocolate cupcake was captured and then consumed very quickly after. The goodie bag, was equally amazing. We already had our face mask, but inside that goodie bag was a FULL SIZE Dream Cream*, one of my absolute favourite Lush products. It is so hydrating and so gentle and is one of the few body lotions my sensitive skin actually loves! There were also two samples of some moisturisers - Celestial*, a moisturiser for dry skin (perfect for winter); and Vanishing Cream*, that help fine lines do a disappearing act. Despite being a huge Lush fan, I have never actually tried their moisturisers, so I am excited to try these two out. There was also a sample of the Ultrabland Cleanser*, a super simple, but super effective cleanser. This sounds super lovely and smells really nice as well, so I am excited to give this a go, especially as my skin has been playing up a little lately. Finally, we got to pick one more thing to take home with us. Ask anyone on the night, I COULD NOT DECIDE. It took me so long to pick one product that I wanted. Maybe because I secretly wanted to take everything in the store... Anyway, finally I settled on The Comforter*x, a Shower Cream that I have never tried before, that smelt AMAZING, that I decided to give a go. Safe to say, it is incredible and I have no regrets in my choice of product.

All in all, it was an amazing night! I had so much fun learning about Lush, as well as meeting so many amazing ladies!! Thank you so much to Rachel and Sarah for the invite to this event, I feel honoured to have been invited and cannot wait to attend more events in Sydney this year!
