Van Der Faun Organic Fragrances Perfumes

Recently I have been using the van der Faun perfumes recently and I have had so many questions about them that I thought it was definitely time for me to share these with you!

The creators of van der Faun noticed that the Australian organic market was lacking an amazing scent that is natural, organic and cruelty-free. So they created perfume that was both natural and luxurious. A family business, of two sisters and a mother, they all have different passions, but have come together to bring you a perfume that is made from 100% natural ingredients, vegan, cruelty free and completely luxurious.

They currently have two perfumes in their range. Hummingbird* and River*. I know you might be thinking 'why natural perfume?!' Well while your other perfumes may smell amazing and last forever, they also contain dozen of toxic chemicals such as parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrances, which are all absorbed into the bloodstream within seconds of applying (what?! I did not know this before now, and now I am very concerned...). Every wondered why your neck sometimes gets itchy later on in the day? Those ingredients can have adverse health effects, including migraines, skin irritation, asthma and allergies. This might explain a lot for me, why on days I wear a particular perfume, I always end up with a headache, or why my neck and inside my elbows itches and ends up very irritated. With natural, organic ingredients, you can avoid many of these health effects!

Hummingbird*

Hummingbird is a light, sweet and flirtatious scent for the ethereal woman. It contains eight ingredients, which are all certified organic, either Australian or USDA. These ingredients are:
  • Organic Sugar Cane Ethanol
  • Rose
  • Honeysuckle
  • Geranium
  • Bergamot
  • Palmarosa
  • Amyris
  • Patchouli

I find this scent to be much more floral based than River. With Rose and Geranium coming through, with the subtle underlying scent of Honeysuckle. They are the strongest aspects that come through in this perfume, for me anyway!

River*

River is a warm, spicy scent with a fresh citrus overtone, soft wild flower notes and a solid earthy base. This scent contains nine different ingredients, also all completely certified organic. These include:
  • Organic Sugar Cane Ethanol
  • Neroli
  • Geranium
  • Rose Geranium
  • Bergamot
  • Sweet Orange
  • Patchouli
  • Cedarwood
  • Clove Bud

I find this to be a lot woodier and earthy. While it does have strong floral undertone, I find that the earthy scents come through much stronger in this one, in particular the Cedarwood.

I have to say, I wasn't completely sure of what to expect with these perfumes, though I was very excited when they arrived in my mailbox. In all honesty, it did take my a little while to get used to the scents, because they are quite natural, compared to any other perfume I'd used before. However, I now love them. They are strong, and long lasting - honestly, they last longer than any of my extremely pricey perfumes. I was so impressed by this. If you are looking for a perfume that you will still be able to smell at the end of the day, then you honestly need to try these. I have also noticed that I haven't had any irritation on my skin while using these. I didn't make the connection to irritation on my neck until it gradually went away after using these two perfumes. At $79.99 each, they are pricey, but they last longer than the perfumes I've paid over $100 for. If you are unsure about the scents, you can get a 10mL travel pack of both for $25. I am loving these perfumes, and the gorgeous, simple packaging is an added bonus!

  8. I've been looking for natural perfumes for so long! I always worry about what the traditional, chemical laced perfumes are doing to the skin on my neck and decolletage! Surely they must age the skin! I'm so happy you posted about these organic perfumes (but my bank account isn't) hahaha.

  9. YES YES YES! I'm so excited to see a cruelty free perfume! My friend has a huge mark on her arm from a chemical reaction to a perfume :/ Its scary to think how many chemicals we are actually putting into and on to our body!
