Harper Cosmetics

8:30 am

Who else loves a good eyeshadow palette?! I know I do! Though I am hopeless at eye shadow, I always have my eye out for a new palette. There are so many beautiful palettes out there, but so many good quality palettes cost an arm and a leg. This is why I was so excited to try one of the Harper Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes.

Another brilliant Australian brand, Harper Cosmetics was born after a long love affair with quality eyeshadow palettes. They wanted palettes that were affordable, but contained a range of colours, all with high quality pigments. Designed for the make up artist or just for every day make up, Harper Cosmetics has a palette for you!

They currently have three different palettes available and I have been using the Sydney S16* palette for the past few weeks.

Sydney S16*

First thing's first - when I first saw this palette I was instantly reminded of the Morphe palette, and I know a lot of you are going to ask for comparisons, but I've only just received my first Morphe palette and will only be able to give you initial impressions, not a detail comparison.

Each palette contains 35 different shades and the Sydney S16 palette is a gorgeous nude palette, that has probably every nude colour you could need. Now when I typically see palettes of this size, I am often sceptical...maybe because my childhood taught me that cheaper palettes had lots of shades, but they were usually awful. Look, I will be the first to jump in and admit that my initial scepticism was completely and utterly wrong! My first impressions were so impressed. My initial swatching test showed that they were extremely pigmented! (Comparison time: I have to say it was pretty similar to my initial swatch of my Morphe palette as well. Yes, hence why I was impressed).

There is a really good variety of shades in this palette as well, particularly in darker browns - both cool and warm. There are so many shimmery golds and nudes as well. Shimmery shades are my favourite, so you must know that I am excited about those. Now, for a full set of swatches! Are you ready? I don't think you are!

Now some real talk about the shades. The shimmery colours are definitely the most pigmented - particularly the darker ones. I find them to feel super creamy and easy to apply and blend as well. The matte shades are a little more powdery and a little less pigmented, but I find that to be the case with lots of palettes. I've found them all really easy to apply though, and the appear on the skin really well. I do wish there was a couple of lighter shimmery colours, but I shouldn't complain, because all of my other palettes have those, where as this gives me more of a darker shades spectrum, and also a larger variety of shimmery nudes.

My final impression? I love this palette. I think for $35 it is amazing value for money! The shades are amazing and are generally all really pigmented. They are creamy, long lasting and easy to apply and blend. It isn't the best palette for travelling, mostly because of the size, but is definitely the perfect palette for creating dramatic, or subtle eye looks. I am a huge fan and I really do want to get the other two palettes to have the full collection now!

Here's a little selfie of when I used this palette. I apologise, you can't really see my eyelids, but hey, why not throw a selfie into the mix!

Great news for you guys though! Until the end of February you can get 15% off by using the code lifeoflaura15.
