Trash Talk: January Edition

8:30 am

So we have already finished the first month of 2017. I'm sorry, what? How can that be?! Anyway, moving on from my disbelief, it is time for another empties post! I won't lie, there are not a HUGE amount of empties (by my standards) but there are some ones that I'm a bit upset about finishing!

Skincare

The biggest category this time round, with some bit hits and big misses! So let's get through it!

1. Bioderma Sensibio H20* - My favourite EVER micellar water, I will never not repurchase this. I currently have a 500mL pump bottle sitting on the bench in my bathroom....Yes, I love it.

2. Clinique Repairwear Night Cream - I really liked this moisturiser, it was lightweight and melted in the skin nicely. I couldn't justify it for $90 though, it didn't amaze me.

3. For Beloved One Hydaluronic Acid Mositurising Serum (sample) - I only got one use out of this sample, so I can't comment on it too much. It was nice, but the one use didn't amaze me.

4. Skinstitut Glycolic Cleanser (sample) - I don't love this or hate it. I don't think I have used it enough to comment too much. I'd like to use it for a few weeks to see if it really makes a difference in my skin. I am really love Glycolic products lately, and everyone raves about this. So I do want to try it some more.

5. Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner (sample) - I have been so intrigued by this since it was released, but didn't want to spend $80 and hate it. I didn't mind the sample, I can't say I noticed too much change in my skin, but I only got about 3 days out of the sample.

6. Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm - Look, let's be real for a second. I hated this. Well, I loved it at first, and the more I used it the less I liked it. For one, it didn't do a whole lot - I used it as a skin care 'finishing'/primer and while it was hydrating, it wasn't anything flash. Again I'm coming back to the money - at $52 it wasn't amazing, and there was barely any product. It was a miss for me.

Make Up

Just the one product this month. The (7) NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Nude. This has been my favourite lip liner ever and I often would just wear it as a lipstick. I will definitely repurchase this at some stage. It's not drying, but long last and is great because you don't have to sharpen it!

Bath

My favourite category!! Bath products!

8. Lush Northern Lights Bath Bomb - I regret not buying more of these at Christmas time, because I used it the other day and I am so in love with it now. It smells amazing and makes the bath look so gorgeous!!

9. Lush Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar - This is from last year...I definitely stocked up on these, and definitely will continue to stock up on them. They smell amazing and I love it so much, plus it's gorgeous to look at!

10. Zoella Beauty Le Fizz  Fragranced Bath Fizzer - This isn't my favourite bath product from the Sweet Inspirations range. It smells amazing, but doesn't do a whole lot once it's in the bath. You need to use lots to actually notice it in the bath. Probably wouldn't repurchase this one.

Haircare

Another category with just one this month. (11) Korres Aloe and Dittany Shampoo is fine, it's not exciting or amazing (especially since I started using bhave), but it is ok. It has been my shampoo that I keep at my partners, for when I stay over. It doesn't keep my hair feeling clean for very long. But it's fine for a quick fix. I won't repurchase it though.

Everything Else

I have made this the 'everything else' category because I had a few random bits and bobs that I finished this month.

12. Scrubba Body Peppermint Coffee Scrub (Travel Size)* - If you don't already know that I love Scrubba Body, you have some reading to do! Yes, I love this. Yes, I would buy it again and again and again. The Peppermint scent is super refreshing for summer!

13. Luna and Luxe Peony and Rosehip Candle - I received this in my first Peony Parcel and loved it. The scent wasn't super strong, but subtle enough that it would fill a room.

14. The Body Shop British Rose Body Butter - Not a huge fan of rose scents, but I quite liked this. It was nice and subtle, but the butter itself was super hydrating!

15. Colgate Mouth Wash - Just thought I'd chuck this in here. Love some good mouth wash!

16. Belle Botanicals Mango and Passionfruit Body Lotion* - One of my absolute favourite body lotions. So lightweight, but hydrating and also super gentle. I love it. Never thought I'd enjoy the scent, but I actually love it! I definitely need to repurchase

17. Soap and Glory Clean On Me - Not my favourite body wash. I used to love the scent, but the more I use it, the less I like it. It's kind of so-so for me now. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

18. The Body Shop Pomegrante Body Wash - This smells AMAZING!! I love these mini body washes, they are perfect for travelling (which is exactly what I did with it!) plus they are fantastic body washes too.

That's a wrap folks! Not even 20 products this month. Still a solid effort if you ask me though. What did you guys go through this month?

  2. I had a shocking month for empties - I kept buying new things and replacing the old ones before I'd finished them.

    1. Haha don't worry, I thought it was going to be awful, but then I went away for a few weeks and used up a bunch of samples while I was away!

  3. I actually had a pretty decent empties month. I'm way more focused right now on using up what I have rather than buying new things! But after reading this post I think there's a few items I'm going to have to buy!

  4. It's so difficult to tell whether a product works from just a sachet sample which is why I'm so reluctant to use them and have an overflowing box of them haha... I will say though, the Skinstitut Glycolic cleanser is amazing and I definitely recommend it! The Josie Maran balm intrigued me but tbh sounds like an unnecessary product!

  5. I had an ok month empties wise, but I'm rolling it all over into this month as I feel like I don't have enough for a post. I've also purged a few items as well since I either don't use them or can't be bothered trying to use them anymore.

  6. I think that's a fantastic effort! I love the Bioderma Sensibio too, it's just way dearer than my Garnier Micellar Water, haha. I should treat myself sometimes though!

  8. I've been meaning to try the Scrubba Body Scrub! So happy to see a good little review on it amongst everything. I wish I had this much patience to test so many products out every month!

  9. These types of posts are so interesting, love having a nosy look at what everyone's using up πŸ™ˆ Happy you love the Bioderma micellar water, I loved using it too but haven't repurchased it because the Garnier one is cheaper and I'm stingy haha πŸ˜‚

  10. At first i thought 'what a frightening thought keeping track of the empties' but actually it make so much sense, seeing what worked and what didn't for you, what was worth spending that extra on! Nice one!

  11. Definitely a decent effort! I also love being nosey with these kinds of posts, and find them so useful. I haven't bought anything from Body Shop in years but lots of bloggers have been talking about them lately and I love the sound of the pomegranate body wash, so I might have to make an effort to go in!
