Maslow & Co: Global Beauty Box 2016

7:30 am

Welcome to Blogmas Day 7! Todays feature, the Maslow & Co December Box!

If you haven't heard of Maslow & Co before, they are an Australian Subscription Box specialising in beauty from all around the world. Each Maslow & Co. Beauty Box features a collection of the most luxurious, high performing and sought after beauty products from a chosen country. The countries visited this year include Australia, New Zealand, Korea, UK, USA West Coast and USA East Coast. The final box of this year is the Global Beauty Box, which revisits the countries touch on this year for their best beauty updates. Lets dive in and see what the Global Beauty Box has to offer!

Zelens Transformer Instant Renewal Mask

The first box this year visited the UK, where Maslow & Co's love with Zelens began. If you are impatient to see results, then this product (claims) to be for you! As the name claims, it is designed to bring instant results, rapidly changing your complexion and restoring firmness.

At $195 for a Full Size, 50mL tube,  or $47 for the 15mL Travel Size that is in this box, it's a luxurious product. I am a little skeptical, I mean instant results?! I am excited to try it though. It smells amazing, very refreshing! We'll see whether it lives up to it's name or not.

First Impressions: It smells amazing and my skin felt refreshed and hydrated after trying it, though I wouldn't say I noticed a huge transformation though...

Manna Kadar Day Dream Palette

Swatch: Eye Shadow (top row)
Swatch: Face Powders (bottom row)

Now this product, I am excited for! Discovered in the USA, the Day-Dream is a full-face palette. Perfect for travel, the handbag or gym bag. Manna Kadar aims to simplify your beauty look, creating a palette that is perfect to do this.

I really like this palette! It reminds me a lot of the Naked palette, with some beautiful neutral colours, as well as a blue and purple just to mix it up a little bit. There is a finishing powder, as well as a bronzer, blush and highlighter. It literally has everything you need. It is really the perfect palette and it is really pigmented as well. $53 purchase, but worth every dollar.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Another US product, the Hoola is one of Benefit's most well known products. I'm sure you've heard of it, but if not, this is Hoola! This is product is the product that has many Maslow Mavens divided. Those who sign up to Maslow sign up for unique products that they haven't tried before. Hoola is so popular and so well known, many were wondering why they decided to include it.

I am not a huge Hoola fan. I mean it's a good bronzer, I've always found it a little orange though. The travel size is $19, or a full size for $51. Despite my slight dislike for it, it is perfect for creating that summer glow.

Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar

A well known Korean brand, Tony Moly is known for some of the cutest packaging and products. Known for their bizarre ingredients and cutting edge technology, Tony Moly is serious about skincare, but in a way that isn't serious.

I was actually really disappointed that the Korean box didn't have any Tony Moly in it, as I'd only ever heard good things about it and seriously wanted to try it out. This lip balm is adorable and smells so lovely. It is one of those lip balms that goes on clear and turns pink on your lips (a nice natural tint). For $8.95 I am so impressed with the hydration.

Wyte Luxe Whitening Applicator

Back on home turf, this teeth whitening pen is from Australia. Wyte aims to help whiten your teeth, but without the chunky strobing lights that most whitening companies use.

Out of everything in the box I think this is the one I am least excited about. Look, I'd love whiter teeth, but it's not something I'd necessarily want in a subscription box. I guess it is something to try though! I am planning on trying it overnight to see how it goes. This product is $29.95.

First Impressions: I have used this a couple of times now and I can't say I've noticed a change in my teeth. I think it is definitely a frequency thing - you need to use it fairly often to notice a change, but I'm not convinced.

Beenigma Face Cream

Over to New Zealand now, a skincare nerd fell in love with using bee venom in a face cream. Harvesting bee venom in no way harms, or kills bees, but works wonders for your skin. Will Collagen and Manuka Honey, this product is designed to plump the skin and helping bring back youthful skin, while also helping with acne scarring.

I was unsure about this product, particularly because I don't have issues with ageing skin yet, but after hearing that it helps with acne scarring as well I am more intrigued. Another pricey product - $17.95 for this 5mL travel size, $124.95 for a full size 50mL.

First Impressions: It's very thick...I'm not a fan of the thickness, I find it a little to heavy for summer and for my skin. I haven't noticed any changes in my skin, but I've used it twice and have almost finished the jar, so it's hard to get a good impression.

Neogen Bio Peel Gauze in Win and Lemon

Another Korean product, because who can get enough of Korea at the moment! Neogen isn't yet a mass-market brand, but their innovative research makes them a brand to watch. These exfoliating peels are both chemical and mechanical, meaning they work to reach deep into the pores to remove debris, leaving your skin feeling soft and renewed.

I have seen heaps of these lately and have wanted to try them so badly. They are definitely one of the products I am most excited about in this box. $2.50 for single ones, or $37 for a pack of 30 cotton pads.

Maven Gift: Shu Umera Conditioner

Each box you have the chance to become a Maslow Maven and get the Maven gift! Basically that involves reviewing each of the products in the box, and also completing one additional task, such as inviting someone to join Maslow & Co. This boxes gift is a Shu Umera conditioner from their Art Series 2.0. Each bottle is designed by one of three Australian artists.

I received the Color Lustre Conditioner, with artwork by Perth's Anya Brock. The bottle is gorgeous, so much fun. The conditioner itself smells amazing. However, I am disappointed with the particular conditioner I received. As I don't colour-treat my hair, I think I am going to get the same benefits out of this conditioner, I would've preferred the Silk Bloom or Muroto Volume. It does sound amazing though. And at $58, it is definitely an amazing gift!

The Verdict: Global Beauty Box

I understand why this box is a bit of a hit and miss with some people. There doesn't feel like there is a whole lot in this box. Compared to the Korean Box which was basically overflowing, it feels almost empty. The total value (according to my calculations) comes to $151. With the Maven Gift it comes to $209. For the $58 I paid for, it is pretty good value. This box had a good mix of make up and skincare products and I think there is something for everyone in this box. You can't like every product in the boxes, and I think there are more products in this box people won't like, but overall I am really happy with this box. I do like when there are more full size products, like in the Korean Beauty Box, but I guess the price of some of these products is much higher as well.

  3. I have a similar Bee Venom facial cream also from New Zealand (but a different brand) and I think your thoughts on yours were exactly the same as mine! Mine was sooooo thick and even waking up in the morning I could still feel the heaviness. Some good products here, but from what I've seen in the past it does look a little light this time.
