Laser Clinics Australia Consultation and Microdermabrasion

Welcome to Blogmas Day 11!

Laser Clinics Australia is one of the leading cosmetic treatment clinics in Australia. They aim to provide affordable, accessible and reliable clinical treatments. They offer a number of skin treatments including peels and microdermabrasion, as well as cosmetic injections and laser hair removal. I also have to add, the have AMAZING deals throughout the year for treatment packages, making everything extremely affordable, no matter what you are planning on having done.

I recently visited the Gungahlin Laser Clinic for a consultation and Microdermabrasion. The Gungahlin branch of LCA is only two weeks old, but talking to the lovely ladies there, it seriously feels like they have decades of knowledge and experience (which in many ways, they do). I am excited to have an LCA Clinic at my shopping centre now though, it is so convenient!

Anyone who has been following my blog for a while will know about my constant skin issues and battles. For years I have suffered from acne and it has really affected my confidence and self esteem. I was really excited to be going to LCA just so I could talk to someone about my issues and get some professional advice on what I could do to help. My consultant, Rachel, talked through my skin issues, first asking what I was worried about most with my skin, before expanding on what she noticed and the causes behind these issues. It was nice to have someone tell me that despite the couple of spots, my skin actually looked great!

I know many people who are really hesitant of these consultations because they are worried that someone is going to try and take all their money in return for some more super expensive skincare you don't need, or pressure you in to more treatments you don't want. I found it quite the opposite. We talked about what products I was already using and Rachel, agreed with some and explained why some of them probably aren't helping my skin. She had an amazing knowledge of a variety of products, not just the Skinstitut that Laser Clinics stocked, but of so many others as well. It was interesting to get that opinion. She recommended a course of Skinstitut products, but made it clear that I did NOT have to buy them all at once, or at all if I didn't want them.
It wasn't a sales pitch, but rather it felt like partnership to finding ways to help me with my concerns. She loaded me up with some samples on my way out, so that I could try and decide for myself!

Microdermabrasion*

As well as a consultation, I also had a Microdermabrasion during my visit to LCA. Microdermabrasion treatments are used to improve the texture and quality of your skin. It is a treatment that will work for all skin types. It started with a gentle cleanse to remove any make up off my face. We then moved onto the Microdermabrasion. It involves a hand piece taken over your whole face three times in a hashtag formation. Rachel told me that it was kind of like a cat licking your face, but to me it felt more like a mini vacuum going all over your face, but with the suck mode on low. Over areas where blackheads form, such as your nose, chin and forehead a smaller hand piece is used. These hand pieces are designed to to loosen and remove the upper layer of dead skin cells.

Now, the LCA Microdermabrasion isn't like your typical facial. Rather than being something designed to feel nice, it is a treatment designed to produce results instead. In saying that, it still feels good, and the whole treatment itself is still rather relaxing. It is 30 minutes out of your day where someone else looks after you, who doesn't love that?! My skin felt amazing afterwards. I seriously could't stop touching my cheeks all afternoon that is how soft it was. My skin texture was also much smoother and looked less red and a little brighter. I was impressed with the immediate improvement in the feel of my skin. The best results come from frequent sessions, and it is recommended having six fortnightly sessions for ultimate improvement.

As with all treatments, there can be some 'side effects' post treatment. These can include breakouts, dryness and some minor irritation. Rachel took me through all of these and gave me tips for what to happen if any of those occurred, so I was prepared. But there were none. My skin has felt and looked great since, my few breakouts from before the treatment have started to clear and my skin is still feeling soft and free of congestion.

These two pictures show a before and after. Now the after picture was taken about a week after my treatment, because straight after my treatment looked about the same. My skin is still feeling super soft and a lot of the big blemishes around my mouth have begun to clear up too. While I'm sure that the blemishes will keep coming back (yay hormones!) I would definitely say that my micro has helped. (Update: it's now two weeks on, and the pimples are coming back! But hopefully my peel will help get rid of those!)

I'm all booked in for a peel and I am definitely going to keep going back for more microdermabrasion as well, I'm excited to see what results are to come. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Gungahlin's Laser Clinics Australia. The ladies were so helpful and addressed all my concerns and needs with helpful advice. If you're thinking about getting an LCA treatment, or just wanting to get some advice on your skin, I would definitely recommend visiting a clinic and making an appointment.

I apologise for the super long post too, but I wanted to give you guys a super informed account of my experience, so I couldn't leave anything out!
