Clarisonic 3 Week Challenge - Week 1

When Myer has a sale on Clarisonic that means you can save $50 you can't say no right?! I had been advised by people for months that I should try the Clarisonic, that it might help my stubborn acne and at this stage I was honestly ready to give anything a try. A lot of people have started to notice big changes in their skin within three weeks of starting to use a Clarisonic device so I decided I would document my three weeks to see if there were any big changes and whether it is actually worth all the dollars!

Week 1

Week 1 here we go! I have high expectations, mainly because I'm hoping that there is something out there that might work and everything is crossed that it is my brand new Mia 2. So here we go....

Day 1 (also I'm not going to document every day, just the ones where things happen or I have to tell you something!)
So I used the Mia 2 for the first time tonight. It fits so easily into your hand which is nice. I tried the cleansing gel that came in the box and I can't say I'm a huge fan. Also I'd recommend wetting either your face or the brush head, it works much better on damp skin. After just one use I have to say my skin looks and feels cleaner than it every has. It has that nice shine to it and it feels soft. Ahhh! So nice!

Day 3
So I've been using the device twice daily so far and I noticed today that my skin was a little bit drier and feeling a bit tender/sensitive around my eyes. I'm thinking I might need to cut it back to once daily and have a bigger ring around my eyes so I don't get too close. Also might have to include an oil into my skincare routine to help with the dryness too. It's not too bad, but with make up on my skin does look noticeably drier. No other noticeable changes in my skin yet, it still feels softer after use though.

Day 4
I cut back on use my Mia today, using it only just before bed. The night before my skin was extremely red and a little tender, so I cut back the usage. I have noticed that I'm getting extremely dry, flaky skin particularly around my eyes and nose. I don't know why that is but my skin is feeling my drier at the moment since I started using Clarisonic....

Day 6

It's basically been a week now and the dryness and redness have gone away and my skin is feeling soft and clean again. There have been no big changes in my skin, but a big thing for me is that I have had no new blemishes appear which is exciting (and I've probably jinxed myself and I'll break out tomorrow...)

Top tips from week one

Each week of my 'challenge' or trial or whatever you (or I) wish to call it, I thought I'd give you my top three tips of what you might expect or should consider trying if you're thinking about purchasing a Clarisonic.

1. Expect to experience a little dryness, redness or possibly irritation. Your skin won't be used to the device, so be wary.
2. Potentially don't do what I did, which was using it morning AND night to start with. Instead, introduce it slowly, starting either morning or night, or every other day. This will help reduce day one.
3.  Wet your face before applying cleanser and wet your cleansing brush before cleaning, it will also make it easier to cleanse and may reduce tip 1 as well.

Stay tuned for week 2 next Wednesday!! If you have any tips for me please let me know xx
