April misses - what didn't quite work for me this month?

Everyone always posts about the products that worked wonders each month, but I rarely see people talk about what they didn't like. So I decided it might be nice to have a chat through some things that just didn't work. There, luckily, weren't too products this month!

Real-U Skincare Set

As many of you might be aware of now I had a bit of an allergic reaction (Sensitive Woes) a few weeks ago. That allergic reaction was actually to the Real-U skincare products. I bought this after rave reviews of these products, I bought them with such excitement when they had a sale over Easter. I was so excited to give these a go, hoping they would magically clear up all my blemishes like they did for other people. Unfortunately the story didn't go as nicely. After 2-3 days I started to notice some dry patches on my nose and forehead. I didn't really think anything of it until a day or two later when it was getting itchy. I sent a message to Ebony, from Real-U, who told me to stop using the face gel and see if it cleared. It didn't clear up, getting worse and worse. Real-U was really lovely about it all, providing me a refund, but I was so disappointed. A few weeks later and my skin has finally cleared up again and I am finally happy to look in a mirror, or go out without make up on, but it was a rough few weeks with the itchiness and pain.

Please note: this reaction is not at all common and I have never heard a bad thing about Real-U, I have friends that use it and swear by it. My skin just did not agree with the products. Ebony is so lovely and is easy to get in contact with and ask advice about the products, so if you are wanting to give it a go, I would still recommend trying it!

Models Prefer Cream Highlighting Palette

I bought this palette in the Priceline 40% off sale with much excitement! However, I haven't been able to get it to work that well for me. The colours don't seem to suit my skin tone and I find that they are hard to apply. As someone who wears a bit of foundation, it was hard to apply this without removing all my foundation. I'm still having a play, but the consistency isn't creamy enough for my liking, so it's been hard to apply this successfully!

Sunday Riley: Good Genes

I bought this product in January and absolutely loved it, as you might remember from my Sunday Riley Review, although I did say that I probably wouldn't purchase it again. I don't know if it was due to the allergic reaction, or what, but in April Good Genes just left my skin itchy and stung whenever I used it. Unfortunately I've had to stop using it (with about a quarter left in the bottle). I'm yet to work out why it hasn't been working for me, but I've been having some what of an adverse reaction to it. I am planning on leaving it a month or so and then giving it another go, once my skin has completely cleared up from the reaction!

Benefit: Watts Up! Highlighter

I picked this up in April as well and was super excited. Some many people raved about this highlighter! And I can see why. It is really pigmented and creamy. However, like the Models Prefer highlighter I find it hard to apply over my make up. On my cheeks it just seems to remove my foundation and underneath foundation doesn't get the same highlighter glow. It is so shimmery and creamy, so I'm desperately trying to find a way to make it work. If you have any suggestions for this highlighter please please please let me know!!

Did you have any misses this month? Was there a product that just didn't work for you?
