April Favourites - what worked wonders this month?

8:05 pm

April was a big month of buying new products to try out - this led to plenty of new loves!! Hence today's article: April Favourites!!

Skincare:

Philosophy: Purity Made Simple
I received a deluxe sample of this in an Adore Beauty sampler bag, and I am in love with it! I have always heard such great reviews about this cleanser and I now understand why. It makes it so easy to clean your skin - taking ALL make up off, even your waterproof eye make up. It is fragrance free and natural. If you are looking for a good quality cleanser that will cleanse your skin easily, leaving looking nice afterwards. I highly recommend this beautiful cleanser!

Dermalogica: Charcoal Rescue Masque

After finally trying the samples of this face mask that I've had for months, I realised that this mask is simply amazing. I love charcoal masks, I find they help to draw out blemishes in my skin, helping to clear my skin up much faster. This mask is no different, doing just that, leaving my face feeling squeaky clean and soft. The added bonus that this charcoal mask has is the gentle exfoliant that you activate when you go to remove the mask. It basically a 2-in-1, a deep cleansing mask, with gentle exfoliation. So many goods things for your face! I actually just used it tonight and my skin feels tight and soft. I'm hoping it will clear up the couple of spots I have at the moment too.

Darphin: Rose Aromatic Care
As you might remember in my Sensitive Woes article the other week, I've been struggling with an allergic reaction recently, that has left my skin dry, itchy and red! I was in desperate need of hydration and I got recommended this oil from Mecca. Thank goodness for that lovely girl's advice, because this oil has been a life saver. I do have to say I have used more in the last two or three weeks than I would have liked to have used, but my skin has been desperately needing it. It has instantly hydrated my skin and brought it back to life again, without any of the nasties. I will be keeping this around in case it happens again, or just for when I'm needing a little extra moisture though winter.

Aesop: Camellia Nut Hydrating Cream

Like the Darphin, I picked this up after my allergic reaction when I needed a calming, yet hydrating moisturiser. This very quickly become my favourite moisturiser EVER. I was immediately drawn to this moisturiser because it has camomile in it, which is calming on the skin. It has been a total winner, leaving my skin hydrated without the oily residue that some other intense
moisturisers have. It smells extremely natural as well, which is a total win for me!

Clarins: Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil
Do you suffer from dry/chapped lips? You need this lip oil. I had heard so many good reviews about this lip oil, so I caved and finally bought it and holy moly it is good! I use this every night before bed (or during the day if I notice my lips are getting dry) and I honestly have not had dry lips since I started using this. It has left my lips so soft (even my boyfriend has noticed haha). I believe they come in other colours/scents/flavours too, but I'm not sure if you can get them in Australia or not...

Make Up:

After trying a sample of this I really had to buy it. Yes it has a big price tag, but it's totally worth it! It didn't go down that well with my dry skin, post reaction, but it is great for the days when you want a little more of a matte finish to your make up as it seems (to me anyway) to be less hydrating, and more matte like. It honestly makes my make up last all day, which with my long days teaching is awesome! I also use this under my tinted moisturiser as I find it helps the pigmentation in my tinted moisturiser last long and makes it less dewy (and I don't really like dewy finishes...). I am really loving this primer at the moment, Hourglass just knows how to make up...

This is another product that I have heard a lot of people rave about recently, so when I saw it on sale in Myer I picked it up. Although I am still getting the hang of it (at least I don't put so much green on that it is impossible to blend and you end up looking a little like Shrek anymore) I have really been enjoying this too. I find that I end up using less foundation if I use a little of these concealers before putting my foundation on. The colours on the bottom row (especially the one on the left hand side) matches my skin almost perfectly, so it is perfect for covering those pesky blemishes!

Red Earth Beauty: Warm Glow Eyeshadow Palette
I'm not going to go on about this product in too much detail as I spoke about it in my Spotlight on Red Earth Beauty post last week, but I am in love with it. It is pigmented, perfect to create natural eye looks, or to go a little bit sparklier and do something a bit more special. I highly recommend this palette to everyone now. It's my new obsession.

Benefit: They're Real! Tinted Eyelash Primer
I was one of those people who always went 'why would you need an eyelash primer...that's ridiculous... Boy was I wrong! This primer is amazing! It makes it 10 times easier to get longer, fuller lashes. I use a little of this before using mascara, using the primer to get the length of the lashes that I want before using a black mascara over the top. I also find this primer great by itself on the no make up days! The wand is so flexible and easy to use. I never thought I would need it, but now that I have it I don't want to lose it!!

Benefit: They're Real! Push Up Liner
I use to use this liner a year or two ago, and I honestly don't know why I ever stopped...I picked it up again this April and was quickly reminded why I purchased it in the first place. It is long lasting, and I usually suffer from the awful smudged eyeliner throughout the day. This eyeliner honestly doesn't smudge at all, setting in place quickly and lasting all day! It is also so easy to use, the precision pen making it simple to get nice and close to the lashes and get a precise line.

What's on your April favourite's list? I'd love to hear what you've been loving this April!

Stay tuned: tomorrow - April's misses - the products that didn't work for me in April.

xx
